A floral installation is the difference between a decorated venue and a transformed one. Where table arrangements and stage backdrops are expected, a well-conceived floral installation is surprising — it creates a moment of genuine delight when guests walk in. After executing hundreds of installations across Bangalore's finest venues, here is everything we know about how to create them well.

The Seven Types of Floral Installation

01
Suspended Ceiling Installation
The most dramatic installation type — flowers hung from a steel grid suspended from the venue's rigging points, creating a living ceiling over the dining or ceremony space. At its most immersive, a full ballroom ceiling installation completely transforms the room. At Ritz-Carlton and Leela Palace, ceiling installations spanning 3,000+ sq ft have become a signature production for us. The grid is rigged overnight; flowers are inserted from dawn. Materials: steel grid, wire hangers, individual flower clusters or draped garland sections. Best flowers: marigold garlands for traditional weddings, mixed rose and hydrangea clusters for contemporary. Build time: 10–16 hours.
Cost: ₹8–18L depending on size and flower choice
02
Floral Arches
The most versatile installation — ceremony arches, entry arches, photo arches, and stage arches. An arch has a beginning and an end, which frames subjects naturally for photography. Entry arches are the first thing guests see and the context for hundreds of arrival photographs. Ceremony arches frame the couple during every ritual photograph. Photo arches are designed purely for portrait photography — taller, more symmetrical, and more densely flowered. We build arches on welded metal frames and dress them in situ, starting with foliage and building out to focal flowers.
Cost: ₹80K–2.5L per arch depending on size and flowers
03
Flower Walls
A flat vertical surface densely covered in flowers — used as a stage backdrop, a photo wall, or a dramatic room divider. Flower walls photograph beautifully and serve as the venue's social media centrepiece. The key design decision: full-coverage (every centimetre covered in flowers) vs. framed (flowers in defined patterns with visible negative space between). Full-coverage is lush and impactful; framed walls have more graphic sophistication. We build on wooden frames clad in chicken wire, into which individual stems or flower clusters are inserted.
Cost: ₹1.5–4L for a 10×8 ft wall depending on flower density and type
04
Floating Floral Pool
Flowers floating on the surface of a water feature or a purpose-filled reflecting pool — marigold, roses, lotus flowers, and floating candles in a geometric arrangement. This installation works brilliantly for outdoor venues with existing water features (several Bangalore resort venues have reflecting pools) and creates extraordinary photographs at golden hour. It is also one of the most evocative traditional installations, referencing temple tanks and ritual offerings.
Cost: ₹60K–1.5L depending on pool size and flower volume
05
Hanging Floral Chandelier
A suspended globe or multi-arm structure densely covered in flowers — it hangs from the ceiling as a centrepiece for the ceremony or dining space. A floral chandelier for over the mandap can replace or augment the mandap canopy. A chandelier over the dining table configuration creates a dramatic centrepiece visible from across the room. We build chandeliers on bent wire armatures, dressed with flowers secured by floral tape and water tubes to maintain freshness.
Cost: ₹2.5–6L depending on diameter, complexity, and flower type
06
Flower Cart and Vintage Bike Installations
Prop-based installations that double as Instagram moments — a vintage bicycle loaded with flower baskets, a wooden cart overflowing with roses and herbs, or a flower-covered rickshaw at the venue entrance. These installations are lighthearted, create immediate photographic opportunities for guests, and can be built for relatively modest budgets. The best versions feel genuinely whimsical rather than staged — they require a set director's eye, not just a florist.
Cost: ₹50K–1.2L including prop rental and floral dressing
07
Floral Tunnel Corridor
A walkthrough installation — a corridor of arched frames forming a canopy, each arch dressed in flowers, through which guests enter the main venue. A 10-metre floral tunnel is one of the most immersive experiences you can create at a wedding. Guests slow down inside it, touch the flowers, and arrive in the venue with a genuine sense of ceremony. Build time is significant — allow 8–10 hours — and the installation requires venue access the evening before.
Cost: ₹3–7L for 8–12 metres depending on height and flower density

Locally Sourced vs Imported Flowers in Bangalore

Bangalore is one of India's best-supplied flower markets — KR Market is a wholesale source that supplies florists across South India. Local availability is strong year-round for roses, carnations, marigolds, tuberose, gerbera, chrysanthemums, gladioli, and various foliage. For large-volume installations using local flowers, you rarely need to compromise on quality.

Imported flowers — king protea, garden roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, lisianthus, peonies — add a European or tropical quality to installations that local flowers cannot replicate. They cost 4–8x more per stem than local equivalents. For ceiling installations, mixing 20–30% imported accent flowers into a predominantly local palette achieves the luxury effect at a fraction of the all-imported cost.

How In-House Design Differs from Outsourced Installations

When you hire an in-house design studio like Panigrahana, the same team that conceives the installation executes it. The design intent is never lost in translation between a designer and a vendor crew. This matters enormously for complex installations: a suspended ceiling installation involves structural engineering, flower placement sequencing, lighting integration, and real-time decisions about density and colour balance. These decisions cannot be made in a briefing document — they must be made on site, in the moment, by someone who holds the original design vision.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a floral installation cost for a wedding in Bangalore?

Floral installations range from ₹80K–1.5L for a simple floral arch, ₹2–4L for a designed flower wall, ₹3–6L for a hanging floral chandelier, and ₹8–18L for a full ceiling installation spanning a large ballroom.

Which flowers last longest for outdoor Bangalore wedding installations?

Marigold, chrysanthemum, gerbera, and tuberose are the most durable local flowers for outdoor Bangalore installations. They withstand heat and humidity well and maintain their appearance for 8–12 hours outdoors. For cooler indoor venues with air conditioning, roses and carnations also hold well for a full event day.

Can I use imported flowers for wedding installations in Bangalore?

Yes — imported flowers are available through specialized wholesalers who supply from the Netherlands, Thailand, and Ecuador via Mumbai. Hydrangeas, garden roses, ranunculus, and proteas are commonly sourced. Lead time is typically 5–7 days, so your order must be placed well in advance. We recommend mixing imports as accents (20–30% of volume) rather than as the sole flower for cost efficiency.

How far in advance do installations need to be set up?

Most floral installations require venue access 8–16 hours before the event. A ceiling installation or floral tunnel may need overnight access. This must be confirmed with the venue at contract stage — not all venues grant overnight access, and it is a critical production planning point.
