Mandara Weddings & Events spreads across roughly 2.5 acres of manicured garden near Kengeri in South Bangalore — set a little away from the city's traffic while staying easy to reach from the west and south of the city. The lawns comfortably host up to around 400 guests, and a tiered mantapa anchors the traditional muhurtham. It is a day-and-evening garden venue without on-site rooms, so it lives or dies on how well the open space is designed.
That open canvas is Mandara's real advantage. As an outdoor venue built around external vendors, it gives couples full creative freedom on decor and catering — no forced in-house catalogue, no restricted floral list. Panigrahana designs and builds original weddings across Bangalore, and this is precisely the kind of venue where a bespoke, architect-led approach separates a composed garden wedding from a generic one. Every price below is indicative; we confirm rental rates and send a line-item concept for your exact date after a walkthrough.
Why a Garden Venue Rewards Design
A blank 2.5-acre lawn is both a gift and a risk. It is a gift because there are no walls, no fixed chandeliers, no house style to fight — the design can be entirely yours. It is a risk because open space is unforgiving: an under-scaled mandap looks lost in it, and a rented, generic structure looks exactly as reused as it is. The venues that photograph best are the ones where someone drew the whole lawn as a single composition — aisle, mantapa, seating, dining and lighting all in proportion.
- No house constraints. Full outside-vendor freedom means the mandap, florals, catering and lighting are all your choice — the design is limited only by imagination and budget, not by a venue's in-house list.
- Daylight is your friend. A morning muhurtham on an open lawn gets clean natural light that flatters real florals and fabric far more than any artificial setup.
- The mantapa is already the focal point. The tiered mantapa gives the ceremony a built-in centre of gravity — the design job is to frame and elevate it, not invent one.
- Scale must be deliberate. On 2.5 acres, decor has to be sized to the space. This is where an architect's eye for proportion matters most.
Designed, Not Rented
Outside-vendor freedom only pays off if you use it. The easy path is to hand an open lawn to a decorator who wheels in the same mandap they use everywhere — and the result looks capable but interchangeable. We take the harder, better path: every mandap at Mandara is designed as an original, drawn to the tiered mantapa and the width of the lawn, calibrated to your colours and built for this wedding. That founder-architect approach is the whole reason to choose a freedom venue over a fixed-package one.
The payoff. A garden gives the camera nothing to hide behind — there is no grand ballroom architecture to carry a weak centrepiece. An original mandap, sized correctly and lit warmly against green lawns, is what turns a big open field into a wedding people remember.
Space-by-Space Decor Guidance
The Tiered Mantapa — The Muhurtham
The mantapa is Mandara's anchor. For a traditional South Indian muhurtham, we design an original mantapa dressing — banana stems, real marigold and jasmine work, brass lamps and kolam at the base — scaled to the tiers rather than a one-size structure dropped on top. Keep the ceremony sightlines clean: a defined central aisle with floral edging leads the eye and the procession straight to the mantapa. Indicative decor for the mantapa and aisle: ₹2.5–6 lakh depending on floral density.
The Open Lawn — Seating & Dining
The lawn's job is to hold up to around 400 guests comfortably while still feeling designed. Cluster seating and dining so the space reads in zones rather than one endless field — a ceremony lawn facing the mantapa, a separate dining and lounge area, and a clear circulation path between them. Low floral centrepieces, warm table linens and defined walkways keep a large garden intimate. Indicative decor: ₹2–5 lakh.
Evening — Lighting the Garden
Because Mandara is open-air, lighting does the heavy lifting after sunset. Warm string-light canopies over the dining zone, uplighting on trees and the mantapa, and lanterns along walkways transform the same lawn into an evening space. For a sangeet or reception, a compact stage with warm backdrop lighting keeps the focus where it belongs. As an outdoor venue, power planning is essential — generators, cable routing and load balancing are part of what we manage. Indicative decor and lighting: ₹1.5–4 lakh.
Outdoor-Venue Logistics We Handle
Freedom comes with responsibility: an open-air venue with outside vendors needs a planner who owns the operational side. This is the part first-timers underestimate:
- Power. Lighting, AV, catering and cooling all draw load. We plan generator capacity, backup and cable routing so nothing trips mid-ceremony.
- Weather contingency. An open lawn needs a rain plan — tenting or a canopy strategy pre-agreed, not improvised. We build this into the design from day one.
- Vendor coordination. Full outside-vendor freedom means multiple teams — decor, catering, sound, lighting — arriving and setting up in sequence. We run the load-in schedule so the lawn is ready and calm before guests arrive.
- Guest stay & transport. With no on-site rooms, room blocks at nearby South and West Bangalore hotels and any shuttle logistics are coordinated as part of planning.
