A Kerala Wedding Without Leaving Bangalore
Sajan Menon and Revathy Nair have lived in Bangalore for over a decade, but their hearts remain deeply Kerala. When Revathy's mother requested a wedding that felt like a real Keralite ceremony — not a hotel wedding with banana leaves as decoration — Tharavadu Mane was the only venue in Bangalore that could deliver.
"When we visited, Amma literally cried," says Sajan. "She said it felt like walking into her grandmother's house."
About Tharavadu Mane
Built in authentic Kerala Malnad-style tharavadu (ancestral home) architectural style — sloping terracotta roofs, carved wooden pillars, open-air courtyards, a 250-year-old sit-out with antique arches, and traditional Kerala motifs. For Kerala families settled in Bangalore, this is the only venue that provides a genuine cultural container for their rituals. Outdoor lawn: 150 seated / 250 floating. Indoor Mane: 50–100 guests. 8 rooms on-site.
The Wedding
Nischayathartham: In the courtyard, with brass lamps and white jasmine garlands — family members sitting on traditional mats, the carved wooden pillars as backdrop.
Haldi (Nalungu): The outdoor garden in turmeric yellow — marigold garlands everywhere, women in Kerala kasavu saris.
Wedding ceremony: Panigrahana designed a traditional mandap — white and gold, lotus flowers in brass vessels, the nilavilakku lamp as centrepiece. The ceremony lasted three hours and not one guest moved.
Sadya: 24 traditional Kerala dishes on banana leaves. Revathy's mother declared it "exactly like home."
