Wedding venues in Gokarna: five beach-town resorts, their rooms, halls and what they cost

What a Gokarna wedding is

Gokarna is a temple town on the Karnataka coast with the Mahabaleshwar temple at its centre and a run of beaches to the south: Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise. The places that host weddings are boutique resorts and cottage properties, not banquet hotels, so the wedding is a two- or three-night stay where the families take most of the rooms.

That makes it a good fit for a wedding of 50 to 100 guests that wants the sea and a temple visit in the same weekend. A larger guest list needs rooms spread over several properties, so count the rooms before you fix the invite list.

The five venues, compared on published figures

SwaSwara, CGH Earth's yoga and Ayurveda retreat on Om Beach, publishes wellness programmes and lists no weddings or events on its website (checked 27 October 2026), so it is not compared here. Ask the retreat directly if you want it for the couple's stay.

Kahani Paradise: eight suites on 20 acres above Paradise Beach

Kahani Paradise has eight suites and rooms on about 20 acres of gardens facing the Arabian Sea, behind Paradise Beach, about 20 minutes' drive south of Gokarna (resort website, checked 27 October 2026). Its celebrations page offers occasions from a couple to a large family across the grounds, planned with the resort's team, and publishes no capacity or rate.

Getting there, by the resort's own times

• Dabolim airport, Goa: about 3 hours.
• Mopa airport, North Goa: about 3 hours 30 minutes.
• Mangalore: 4 hours 30 minutes; Bangalore: 8 hours by road.
• The resort sends a car to Gokarna town for guests arriving by train.
• Drivers stay at a lodge about 10 minutes away, not on the property.

With eight suites, Kahani is a whole-property wedding for the two immediate families, with the wider guest list staying elsewhere in Gokarna. Ask the resort for an exclusive-use rate for your nights and where a ceremony can be set on the grounds.

Stone Wood Premier Gokarna: cottages and a pool on Om Beach Road

Stone Wood Premier Gokarna, formerly Stone Wood Nature Resort, has a conference hall for up to 50 guests, a pool and a multi-cuisine food court, and its Spalba profile lists 34 rooms (resort website and Spalba, checked 27 October 2026). The resort puts Dabolim airport about 148 km away and sits close to Gokarna Road railway station and Om Beach.

Rooms and what the profile says about weddings

• Cottages of 250 sq ft (nature-view, valley-view and pool-front), nine premium cottages of 350 sq ft and a 550 sq ft suite (resort website).
• The team works with couples and wedding planners on space, catering and vendor access, and block bookings for outstation guests can be arranged (Spalba).
• Alcohol is listed as permitted, subject to local excise rules (Spalba).
• Check-in 2 pm, check-out 11 am (resort website).

It suits a mehendi, sangeet or a 50-guest ceremony in the hall, with the families in the cottages around the pool. The hall fits 50, so plan the larger function on the grounds and ask the resort what it allows outdoors.

Sanskruti Resort: 30 rooms and a vegetarian kitchen near the temple

Sanskruti Resort on Om Beach Road has 20 cottages and 10 valley-view rooms, the Ekalavya Conference Hall for 70 theatre-style, and a pure-vegetarian restaurant, about 1.5 km from the Mahabaleshwar temple and 4 km from Om Beach (resort website, checked 27 October 2026).

What the resort publishes

• Rooms: superior cottages, premium cottages and deluxe valley-view rooms, with porches facing two swimming pools.
• Ekalavya Conference Hall: air-conditioned, 70 theatre-style or 25 in a U-shape.
• Samrudhi restaurant: pure vegetarian, serving Indian, tandoori, continental, Chinese, Goan and South Indian food.
• Airport taxi, parking, a spa and a doctor on call.

This is the natural base for a family that wants the temple at the centre of the wedding and a vegetarian kitchen on site. It publishes no wedding rate, so ask for a room-block rate and the hall charge together.

Poornima Beach Stay: the one Gokarna venue with a published wedding rate

Poornima Beach Stay on Main Beach Road lists a banquet hall and lawn for 60 to 100 wedding guests at ₹750 a plate, and ₹1 lakh to ₹1.25 lakh a day for the venue without catering (WeddingWire listing, checked 27 October 2026).

Rules on the listing

• Outside caterers, decorators and DJs are allowed; in-house catering, decoration and DJ are also offered.
• Alcohol is permitted, with an alcohol licence; a sound licence is included.
• 30% advance to confirm; the listing states no refund on cancellation, so read the contract before paying.
• A bridal dressing room and parking are on site.

It is the simplest booking in Gokarna for a 60- to 100-guest wedding that wants one place for the function and the meal. Put the plate count, the venue charge and the end time for music in the written booking.

Kudle Beach View Resort & Spa: suites above Kudle Beach

Kudle Beach View Resort & Spa lists rooms from ₹7,000 a night for a deluxe double to ₹15,000 for an artisan private-pool suite, plus GST with breakfast, above Kudle Beach (resort tariff, checked 27 October 2026). It publishes no event space, so it works as the room block for the couple and close family while the function is held elsewhere.

What the tariff page publishes

• Artisan private-pool suite ₹15,000; artisan suite ₹13,000; club suite with beach view ₹10,000; dolphin suite with pool view ₹9,500; deluxe room ₹7,000; each plus GST, double sharing with breakfast.
• The resort is built on a hillside: garden-view rooms are about 70 steps up and deluxe rooms about 35, so it recommends the club and dolphin suites for older guests.
• Pool open 9 am to 10:30 pm; a spa, a yoga studio and a beach-view restaurant.

Rooms set the guest list in Gokarna

The largest room counts published here are Stone Wood Premier's 34 and Sanskruti's 30, and Kahani Paradise has eight suites (resort websites and Spalba, checked 27 October 2026). A wedding of 100 guests therefore usually takes rooms at two or three properties, with transfers between them.

How to size a Gokarna wedding

1. Count the guests who must sleep at the function venue: both families, elders and anyone who should not be on the road at night.
2. Ask each resort for the rooms it can hold for your nights, in writing, and how many are step-free.
3. Place the rest of the guests at a second property a short drive away, and plan the shuttle times.
4. Fix the invite list against those numbers, not the other way round.

Getting to Gokarna

Goa's two airports are the usual way in: Kahani Paradise puts Dabolim about 3 hours and Mopa about 3 hours 30 minutes away, and SwaSwara gives 170 km from Goa airport (resort websites, checked 27 October 2026). Trains on the Konkan line stop at Gokarna Road station. Bangalore is about 8 hours by road, by the same resort's figure.

Plan the arrival day as travel. A morning flight into Goa and an afternoon welcome dinner is a realistic first day; a same-day ceremony is not.

Decor, food, alcohol and music

• Outside decorators: allowed at Poornima Beach Stay on its listing; Stone Wood Premier says vendors follow its vendor policy (Spalba); the others publish no rule.
• Food: Sanskruti's restaurant is pure vegetarian; Poornima allows outside caterers on its listing.
• Alcohol: permitted at Poornima Beach Stay, and at Stone Wood Premier subject to local excise rules (listings).
• Music: none publishes an end time for amplified sound. Gokarna is a temple town, so ask each resort for its sound rules for your dates in writing.

When to hold a Gokarna wedding

October to March is the dry, comfortable window on this coast. The southwest monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain, so a beach or lawn function then needs a covered space for every guest. SwaSwara's factsheet gives a temperature range of 18 to 40°C over the year, and April and May are the hot months.

Planning a Gokarna wedding from abroad

Book international flights into Goa, then plan a 3- to 3.5-hour road transfer to Gokarna. Block rooms for two or three nights so guests arrive the day before the first function, and ask each resort for a filmed walkthrough of the rooms, the ceremony spot at the hour you want it and the covered fallback.

What parents usually ask about Gokarna

• Can we visit the Mahabaleshwar temple as part of the wedding? Sanskruti Resort is about 1.5 km from the temple by its own figure, which makes a morning visit easy.
• Will there be a vegetarian kitchen? Sanskruti's restaurant is pure vegetarian; at the others, ask for a vegetarian menu in writing.
• Can elders manage the rooms? Ask for step-free rooms; at Kudle Beach View the resort recommends its club and dolphin suites for older guests.
• Can the fire ritual and mandap be outdoors? Ask the resort to confirm an outdoor havan and the mandap site in writing.
