Can we plan the wedding if no relative in India can supervise?
It can be planned without a supervising relative if the agreed professional scope covers the necessary on-site work. Assign decision-makers, deadlines and a local project lead. A relative should not become the default unpaid coordinator for tasks left out of a contract.
Which decisions can we make remotely, and which benefit from a visit?
Shortlists, document reviews and design discussions can be prepared remotely. A visit can help with scale, materials, tasting and trials. Decide which unresolved issues require physical inspection, who can attend and whether a representative can report back reliably.
Can we plan everything with just one India trip?
One visit may be workable if the shortlist, appointments and decisions are ready, but it is not a universal promise. Some samples, trials or venue conditions may need another check. Separate the planning visit from the wedding trip and confirm appointments before travel.
What should a three-day versus seven-day planning visit include?
For three days, prioritise decisions that truly need your presence and keep the shortlist small. Seven days may allow more travel, trials and review time. Use the visit workspace to arrange suggested tasks; its calendar is not a confirmation from venues or suppliers.
How do we agree who has final approval on budget, rituals and decor?
Name the final approver for spend, guest count, rituals and design, and define any joint decisions. Record limits and a way to resolve disagreement. Suppliers need one clear authorised instruction when a decision changes, with the previous version retained.
How do we involve parents without routing every message through them?
Give parents a agreed place to review relevant choices, a comment deadline and a contact for questions. Separate their preferences from final approval. Share only the information they need and keep sensitive financial or guest information within the agreed group.
What should a weekly planning update contain?
A useful update lists decisions made, decisions due, outstanding quotations, approved cost changes and upcoming appointments. Include an owner and date for each open item. Agree the frequency with the team; this guidance is not a promise of weekly production videos.
How do we keep one final version of the guest list and design decisions?
Use one dated master version, named editors and a change log. Record who approved design changes and when. The public wedding workspace stores your entries on the current device; it does not automatically synchronise them with the couple portal or other family members.
Build a sequence around the decisions
Start with your preferred dates, destination, guest range and functions. Compare venues against that same brief, including rooms, indoor alternatives and access for installation. Avoid treating a venue photograph as confirmation that it can host your planned ceremony.
Once the venue and responsibilities are agreed, develop the design and supplier scopes. Track the decisions needed to release each piece of work: approved layout, menu, room allocation, transport list and showflow. Attach an owner and a due date to each outstanding item.
Before the celebration, reconcile the final guest and room lists, supplier timings, venue permissions and version of the design being built. Confirm who can approve a change when you are travelling or occupied with a ceremony.
Which decisions need an India visit?
A venue inspection, tasting, outfit fitting or material review may benefit from being in person. Group appointments only after the relevant people confirm availability. Start with a shortlist, leave time between venues and allow an opportunity to compare notes before making commitments.
If you cannot travel, decide which checks a trusted relative or your contracted team can make. Give them a specific checklist and photographs to return. Some choices still need the couple’s approval; delegating a visit should not silently delegate the budget.
Give family a clear role
Choose who gathers each family’s preferences and who has final approval. Keep ceremonial requirements, guest hospitality and design choices separate so everyone can contribute to the questions they understand.
After a call, record the decision, the approved version and anything still unresolved. A relative’s suggestion in a chat should not automatically become a supplier instruction. Use a change record when a later request affects materials, timing or cost.

Common questions
Can we really plan an Indian wedding without living in India?
Yes. Most of the planning happens over structured video calls and a couple portal — design presentations with feedback and approvals, meeting minutes, structured decisions and payments in one place. What genuinely needs you in India is a venue shortlist visit and the wedding itself; nearly everything else can be decided remotely when the process is built for it.
How many trips to India do we actually need?
Two is comfortable for most couples: one venue-and-tastings trip around six to nine months out, and the wedding trip itself. A single-trip wedding is possible when the planning system carries everything else remotely — we have produced weddings that way.
How do design approvals work when we are in another timezone?
You approve from renders, not promises. Our studio shares design decks — 3D renders and drawings — before anything is built, you comment and approve in the portal on your own schedule, and the approved deck is what our in-house team then builds. The biggest remote-planning risk is imagining one thing and being handed another; the deck-approval gate removes it.
What time-zone call windows work when we live abroad?
One standing weekly slot, chosen so neither side takes a call at 2am. From the US East Coast an 8am call is 5:30 to 6:30pm in Bangalore; 1pm in London is 5:30 to 6:30pm; 4pm in Dubai is 5:30pm; 7pm in Sydney is 1:30 to 2:30pm; 8:30pm in Singapore is 6pm. India observes no daylight saving, so the offset moves only when your own clocks do.
Is an Indian marriage certificate valid in the USA?
Yes. A marriage registered under the Hindu Marriage Act or the Special Marriage Act in India is recognised as a valid foreign marriage by US authorities. US agencies will generally ask for an apostille on the Indian certificate, issued through India’s Ministry of External Affairs. We point you to the process and coordinate the on-ground appointments. Which airline routes work best for guests flying from the USA to an Indian wedding?
Air India flies nonstop from New York (JFK and Newark), San Francisco, Chicago and Washington to Delhi and Mumbai, the most convenient options for East and West Coast guests. For Goa, Bengaluru or Kochi, guests connect through Delhi or Mumbai on a domestic leg of one to three hours. One-stop options also run via Gulf hubs (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways) and European hubs (Lufthansa, British Airways). Book four to six months ahead for wedding travel in the October to February peak.
Can we plan the whole wedding in one 10 to 14 day India trip?
Yes, and that is how we structure it for most US couples: days 1 to 3 for the venue and tastings, day 4 for decor, days 5 and 6 for outfits, days 7 and 8 for family alignment, days 9 and 10 for sign-off. Everything else happens before and after the trip through the portal. The single-trip version, where you arrive only for the wedding week, is possible too; we have produced weddings that way.
