Five temples in and around Bangalore host the weddings families ask us about most, and they are three different kinds of place. ISKCON runs a purpose-built hall complex next to the temple, so it works like a kalyana mantapa with a sanctum a short walk away. Bhoga Nandeeshwara, Banashankari and Kote Venkataramana are old temples where the ceremony happens inside or beside the shrine, with the temple office handling dates and sevas. The Arya Samaj is a Vedic institution rather than a deity temple; its priests conduct the wedding at their mandir or at your venue and issue a certificate. Dodda Ganesha Temple in Basavanagudi and the Meenakshi Temple on Bannerghatta Road also come up; we could not confirm their current wedding arrangements from a published source, so they sit outside the table.

Can we get married at ISKCON Bangalore?

ISKCON Bangalore's Kalyana Mantapa on Hare Krishna Hill, Chord Road, Rajajinagar, hosts weddings in two halls, per the temple's own site: Dwarakapuri Hall seats 450 for the ceremony (1,500 floating) and 325 for dining, and the smaller Mathura Hall seats 150 (400 floating) with dining for 100. Both are air-conditioned; the booking includes 7 complimentary guest rooms, with 70 more on the hill, and parking for 360 cars. Food is vegetarian only and cooked by the temple's own kitchen in the sattvik style; flowers, photography, nadaswaram, a swing and a homa kunda are optional add-ons at extra charge. Rental rates are not published online, so treat any figure you see on a listing site as indicative and ask the office (080 2357 4123, 8am-8pm).

Can we get married at Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple?

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple in Nandi village, at the base of Nandi Hills about 55 km northeast of Bangalore, holds weddings in its carved black-stone kalyana mantapa, inside a complex protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. The mantapa sits between the two main shrines, and the Uma Maheshwara shrine beside it shows the wedding of Shiva and Parvati, which is why newly married couples come for blessings even when they married elsewhere. Bookings go through the temple office, and demand on strong Nov-Mar muhurthams is heavy, so we ask for the date 3-6 months out. Because it is a protected monument, decor is flowers and fabric only, nothing fixed to the stone, and guest numbers are limited to what the mantapa and courtyard hold, so the meal and the reception move to a venue nearby. Shivaratri, usually February, fills the road with devotees, so we avoid that day.

Can we get married at Banashankari Temple?

Banashankari Amma Temple on Kanakapura Road in South Bangalore, a Muzrai temple, lists Girija Kalyana among its sevas on its own website, and families book wedding ceremonies through the temple office (080 2671 4989). Fees, hall details and notice are not published online, so take the numbers on aggregator listings as indicative and confirm at the counter. In practice a Banashankari wedding is an early-morning ceremony with the family's own purohit, a simple mantapa dressing and breakfast for guests. Devotee hours are the temple's first priority, so we plan guest arrival around the queue.

Can we get married at Kote Venkataramana Temple?

Kote Venkataramana Temple on Krishnarajendra Road, next to the old Bangalore Fort and a few minutes from KR Market, was built in 1689 by Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar and hosts small, traditional weddings through its temple office. A ceremony here is for close family, with the market flower stalls a walk away and the fort walls in the photographs. Fees, notice and guest limits are not published, so we treat them as indicative until the office confirms. Parking is tight here, so guests come by shuttle from the reception hotel.

Can we get married at the Arya Samaj in Bangalore?

The Arya Samaj in Bangalore conducts a Vedic wedding with a certificate at its mandir or at your venue, with a havan and mantras led by its own pandits, and can complete it inside a day once documents are in order, per the Arya Samaj Bangalore website. Inter-caste couples are accepted as a matter of course; couples where one partner is from another faith go through a shuddhi ceremony first, which the Samaj also certifies. Fees are modest and are best confirmed by phone (080 4978 4537 or 080 2525 7756). An Arya Samaj wedding is a religious ceremony under the Hindu Marriage Act; its certificate is proof of that ceremony, not a court marriage, and registration with the Sub-Registrar is still needed. The ceremony can travel: several of our couples have had the Arya Samaj rites on the hotel lawn before the reception.

Is a temple wedding legally valid in India?

A temple wedding in India is legally valid under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 the moment the customary rites are completed, and in most South Indian traditions that means the saptapadi, the seven steps around the fire. Validity and proof are different things. A certificate that a bank, passport office or embassy accepts comes from registering the marriage with the Sub-Registrar in Karnataka, with photographs, ID, witnesses and proof of the ceremony; the temple receipt or Arya Samaj certificate is that proof. Inter-caste Hindu couples can marry at nearly every temple in and around Bangalore in 2026, and the Arya Samaj conducts the wedding for inter-caste couples and, after shuddhi, for couples where one partner was born into another faith. Government-administered Muzrai temples, and ISKCON, follow the Hindu Marriage Act, which does not distinguish by caste. A temple office asks for ID, the muhurtham and sometimes gotra and nakshatra for the sankalpa.
