Heritage wedding venues in Kerala: palaces, tharavads and colonial hotels you can marry in
Kerala’s heritage wedding venues are old buildings that still host weddings: a 1744 Dutch palace on Bolgatty Island in Kochi, sixteenth-century manas reassembled at Kumarakom Lake Resort, tharavad villas at Coconut Lagoon, Taj Malabar’s 1935 hotel on Kochi harbour, and the Fort Kochi heritage hotels. Seven are compared below with rooms, guest counts and the prices each one publishes.
Panigrahana Weddings plans and designs weddings across Kerala with its own local team and production warehouse in the state. We have planned weddings at Kumarakom Lake Resort, Taj Malabar and Taj Bekal. We are the planners, not the venue: the property contracts with you for rooms, space and food; we plan, design and run the wedding.

Designing a wedding inside an old building
A heritage venue changes the decor brief. Old walls, wooden ceilings and laterite floors are the setting, so the design adds less: freestanding mandaps and frames rather than anything fixed into a wall, lamps, brass and flowers at a human scale, and lighting that shows the building after dark. Ask each property in writing what may be fixed, hung or placed on its old floors, the outdoor sound cut-off, and how a boat or a narrow lane affects the load-in, before any fabrication starts.
The weather plan matters as much as the mandap. Kerala’s south-west monsoon runs from about June to September; for those months, choose the covered space first and treat the lawn as a bonus.
