Coorg — officially Kodagu district in Karnataka — sits in the Western Ghats at 900–1,700 metres above sea level. The hills receive among the highest rainfall in India during the monsoon, which is also why they remain a deep, saturated green year-round. Coffee, cardamom, and pepper plantations cover the lower slopes. Mist arrives at dawn and lingers through mid-morning. Waterfalls — Abbey Falls, Iruppu Falls, dozens more — run through the forests. Seasonal Calendar
Timing a Coorg wedding correctly is non-negotiable. The difference between the right month and the wrong one is the difference between a transcendent experience and a logistical disaster.
Monsoon advisory: June through August in Coorg is not a functional wedding season. The Southwest Monsoon brings extraordinary rainfall — Coorg regularly records 2,500mm+ in the monsoon months, among the highest in peninsular India. Roads can become impassable. Resort grounds become saturated. Do not plan an outdoor Coorg wedding during this period. September is transitional and still carries significant risk.

Getting There
The road journey from Bangalore to Madikeri takes about four hours via NH275 (the Mysore–Madikeri highway), by Coorg Wilderness’s own figure. It is a scenic drive once past Mysuru — the landscape rises steadily into the Western Ghats, with coffee plantations appearing after Kushalnagar. Most couples coordinate coach transport for their guests, with 2–3 departures from central Bangalore or Bangalore airport on the arrival day.
For a truly exceptional arrival — or for ferrying elderly guests, the couple themselves, or key family members — helicopter charter from Bangalore takes approximately 45 minutes. Several operators including Club One Air and Heritage Aviation offer charters to Coorg. A private helicopter accommodating 4–5 passengers typically costs ₹1.5–2.5 lakhs one way.
Guests flying in from other cities land at Kempegowda International Airport (Bangalore). From the airport, budget about four and a half hours: Evolve Back gives 275 km to its Coorg resort (the airport is on the north side of Bangalore, which adds time over a city start). Coorg has no airport of its own, so guests fly into Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore, and drive about four and a half hours on NH275, the Mysore–Madikeri highway (Evolve Back gives 275 km from the airport to its Coorg resort); from central Bangalore the drive is about four hours, by Coorg Wilderness’s own figure. For a 3-day Coorg wedding, Panigrahana schedules 2–3 coach departures from the airport on the arrival day, with driver briefings and pickups handled as part of the wedding management. For the couple or elderly family members a helicopter charter from Bangalore takes about 45 minutes, at ₹1.5–2.5 lakh one way for 4–5 passengers. Guests who prefer to drive the whole way should treat it as a full day on the road and arrive the evening before the first function.

October through March is the ideal window. November through January is peak season — perfect weather, zero rain, cool evenings. February and March add the bonus of coffee blossom season, when the estates fill with a jasmine-like fragrance. Avoid June through August entirely — the Southwest Monsoon brings some of the heaviest rainfall in peninsular India during these months.
50–150 guests is the ideal range. This scale fits most of Taj Madikeri’s 63 rooms, or a buyout at Coorg Wilderness, listed at ₹50 lakh a day for 104 rooms on WedMeGood. At this size, the intimacy that makes Coorg special — private ceremonies, bespoke dinners, unhurried mornings — is fully preserved. Larger guest counts are possible at Taj Madikeri with tenting, but the character changes considerably.

Absolutely. Taj Madikeri, Coorg Marriott and Coorg Wilderness all list lawns and ballrooms for ceremonies; ask each for its rules on the sacred fire and the mandap in writing. Resort teams are experienced at setting up mandaps on lawns, by pools, and within forest clearings. The venues accommodate priests, ritual fires, and all ceremony requirements.
