Designed, not just planned
How we would design a wedding at Coorg Marriott Resort & Spa
Three things decide the design here. First, ground. This is a hill property and flat usable ground is the scarce commodity, so we deck over the pool: level the working area, then design on it. Second, the backdrop is already doing the work. Coffee estate, mist and the Ghats behind them will beat any tall floral structure you put in front of them, so we build low and wide in bamboo and timber frames, greenery and unbleached fabric, and put the money into lighting instead. There is no light pollution at Makkandur, so festoon runs, lanterns and pathway lighting read far stronger here than in the city, and they are what people remember at nine o'clock. Third, water. Monsoon runs June to September and the shoulder months still throw an afternoon shower, so every outdoor function is drawn with Silver Oak as a costed fallback rather than a hope: quick-transition staging, fabric and florals chosen for humidity, structures tied down for hill breeze. Rigging loads in the hall and any structure over the pool go to the resort's events team in the production plan. Power for a build this size deserves a written answer on available load and generator placement before the layout is fixed.

Season and weather
