Can we have an Indian wedding at Rayavadee?

Yes, if it is small. Rayavadee, on Krabi's Phranang Peninsula and reached only by boat, says it specialises in weddings of 2 up to 70 guests, held at The Grotto, a limestone cave above Phranang Beach, or on its lawn. Its wedding guide welcomes couples who bring their own rabbi or priest, so ask whether a pandit can lead the pheras, and confirm the havan in writing. Panigrahana has not yet planned a wedding here.

What is a wedding at Rayavadee like?

Small and outdoors. Rayavadee's wedding guide describes ceremonies for 2 to 70 guests, usually non-religious and led by a senior manager, in a white and green scheme, at The Grotto cave above Phranang Beach or on a palm-fringed lawn. Both packages give private use of the setting from 15:00 to 18:00 with a candlelit dinner for the couple, and the group must book 10 room nights. Guests arrive by the resort's boat.

Which luxury resorts in Krabi suit a wedding?

It depends on the guest count. Rayavadee, on the Phranang Peninsula and reached by boat, takes weddings of 2 to 70 in a limestone cave and on lawns. For a larger Indian wedding, Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra on Klong Muang Beach seats 200 at a banquet in its Grand Ballroom, and Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort says it has catered Indian weddings of up to 500. Fix the guest list before you shortlist.

Can we have a wedding on Railay Beach?

Not on the sand at Rayavadee, the resort that sits between Railay and Phranang beaches: its wedding guide says national park rules stop it from setting a wedding directly on the beach. It offers The Grotto instead, a limestone cave a few metres from Phranang Beach that the guide puts at up to 50 guests (the venue page says 30), or the Coconut Lawn by the main pool near Railay Beach for up to 70.

Is Rayavadee in Krabi or Phuket?

Krabi. Rayavadee is at 214 Moo 2, Ao Nang, Muang Krabi, in the heart of the Phranang Peninsula on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park, with Phranang Beach and Railay Beach on either side. Guests usually fly to Krabi International Airport; from Phuket Airport the road leg to the resort's pier takes 3.5 to 4 hours. The resort calls itself the Land of the Princess and belongs to Raya Collection.

How much does a wedding at Rayavadee cost?

Rayavadee publishes two packages. For 2026, The Lawn Package is Baht 104,000 and The Grotto Package Baht 209,000, each plus 10% service and 7% government tax; for 2027 they are Baht 109,500 and Baht 220,000. A Thai or Buddhist monk ceremony adds Baht 40,000 plus tax each. The packages leave out rooms and the guests' dinner, and the group must book at least 10 room nights.

Can Rayavadee host a 100 to 200 guest Indian wedding, and what would it cost?

No. Rayavadee's wedding guide caps weddings at 70 guests and its venue pages list settings of up to 50, so a larger Indian wedding needs a different Krabi resort. For up to 70, the bill is the package (from Baht 104,000 plus tax in 2026), a buffet dinner priced per guest from the resort's menus, and at least 10 room nights. What is The Grotto at Rayavadee?

The Grotto is an ancient limestone cave overlooking Phranang Beach that Rayavadee uses for ceremonies and dinners, an outdoor setting with a sand floor. The Grotto Package, Baht 209,000 plus 10% service and 7% tax for 2026, gives private use from 15:00 to 18:00, the ceremony with flowers, a cake, a candlelit dinner for two, a spa package and a private half-day island trip by speedboat.

How many rooms does Rayavadee have, and what are the room rules for weddings?

Rayavadee has 94 two-storey pavilions and seven villas, by its July 2026 fact sheet. Wedding packages need at least 10 room nights between the couple and the guests, and the resort offers group rates. The Rayavadee Villa sleeps four, or six with extra beds, and the three-bedroom Phranang Villas six, or nine; villas can host a cocktail reception but not the wedding dinner.

Can we have a Hindu ceremony with a pandit at Rayavadee?

Ask in writing. Rayavadee's ceremonies are normally non-religious and led by a senior manager, but its wedding guide welcomes couples who bring their own rabbi or priest, so a pandit-led ceremony is a fair request. The guide bars fireworks and floating lanterns as a fire risk and says nothing about a havan, so agree the fire and the setting before you book.

Can we legally marry at Rayavadee?

Yes, but it takes paperwork. Rayavadee's guide says couples first get affidavits from their embassies in Bangkok, have them translated into Thai and submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then send them to the resort seven working days ahead; the resort books the Krabi district officer, who attends only Monday to Friday. The guide suggests marrying legally at home and holding the ceremony at the resort.

Rayavadee's settings suit small functions: a cocktail sangeet on the lower deck of Krua Phranang, its Thai restaurant by Phranang Beach, for up to 50, a buffet dinner at The Umbrella Tree Court for up to 70 by the guide, and a villa for the mehendi, since villas can host cocktail receptions but not dinners. No fireworks are permitted, so plan the evening around music and lighting, with the end time agreed in writing.

Can Rayavadee serve Indian food at a wedding?

Rayavadee's wedding menus run from western favourites to classic Thai with an add-on barbecue, and its restaurants serve western and Asian food with an emphasis on Thai and regional cooking; Indian dishes are not listed. Ask the wedding specialist for an Indian menu and a tasting in writing. The guide says set menus work best up to 20 guests and buffets for larger groups, so plan an Indian buffet.

Can we have fireworks and a DJ at a Rayavadee wedding?

No fireworks: Rayavadee's wedding guide rules out fireworks and floating lanterns as a fire risk to the environment it protects. It publishes no music end time, so agree any DJ or dhol, the setting and the cut-off in writing, and remember that most settings are outdoors or semi-outdoors, on the edge of a national park.

How do guests from India reach Rayavadee?

Fly to Krabi International Airport, which has many daily flights from Bangkok. The resort's van takes about 20 minutes to Nong Nuch pier and its boat another 20 minutes, since Rayavadee is reached only by boat; shared boats carry up to 14 people. From Phuket Airport the road leg to the pier is 3.5 to 4 hours. Indian ordinary passport holders get Thailand's 30-day visa exemption for tourism.

When is the best time for a wedding at Rayavadee?

November to April has the best weather and November to May is the most popular, according to Rayavadee's wedding guide; July to October brings short bursts of rain. The resort takes no weddings between 15 December and 15 January, on Valentine's Day or from 12 to 20 April, so pick a date outside those windows before you send invitations.

Rayavadee or Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra for an Indian wedding?

Pick by size and ritual. Rayavadee takes weddings of up to 70 in a limestone cave and on lawns reached by boat, and does not allow fireworks. Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra on Klong Muang Beach seats 200 at a banquet in its ballroom and describes the pheras around the holy fire under a mandap on its lawn or by the beach. For a full multi-day Indian wedding, Sofitel fits; for a small family ceremony, Rayavadee does.

Yes, from the resort: its weddings page links to films of past weddings, such as Jacqui and Owen's and Yam and William's. Panigrahana has not planned a wedding at Rayavadee, so we have none of our own. The resort gives couples a list of photographers, helps arrange a videographer, and styles its weddings in white and green.

Who can plan an Indian wedding at Rayavadee?

Rayavadee's wedding specialist plans the resort's side, from the flowers to the menus. For an Indian wedding, Panigrahana plans and designs the functions and coordinates with the resort; we have not yet worked at Rayavadee, but we planned an 80-guest Telugu wedding at Four Seasons Koh Samui in March 2025. Planning starts at ₹2 lakh a day for two events and decor at ₹5 lakh, plus GST.

Can we renew our vows at Rayavadee?

Yes. Rayavadee offers vow renewals, and couples can take either package or build their own: The Lawn Package from Baht 104,000 or The Grotto Package from Baht 209,000, each plus 10% service and 7% tax in 2026. A Thai Sai Mongkol water blessing or a Buddhist monk blessing can be added for Baht 40,000 plus tax each, and a monk blessing must take place before 10:00.
