A mandap suspended over the water feature, lit from below — one of the most-shared images from any Bangalore wedding in 2025, at a venue purpose-built for beautiful photographs.

Samaya in Whitefield was designed with a single principle: every angle should photograph beautifully. The venue's architects consulted with wedding photographers during the design process, building sightlines, reflection pools, and frame compositions into the structural plan. Working with a venue that was already designed for photography was a different creative challenge — our job was to push against its boundaries rather than fill its gaps.

The mandap concept was our answer to that challenge: a structure that would be impossible at any other Bangalore venue. We suspended the ceremony platform 60 centimetres above the venue's central reflection pool, using a tensioned cable system anchored to the venue's structural columns. The platform was lit from below through the water, creating a mandap that appeared to float on light. The pandit and the couple stood on water.

The photographs — the suspended platform, the reflected light on the water surface, the couple at the centre — became the most-shared images from any Bangalore wedding we produced in 2025, circulating on wedding planning communities across India within weeks of the event. Prateek, who works in digital marketing, predicted this would happen. He was right.

Varsha told us that what she remembered most was not the installation itself but the moment she stepped onto the platform and felt the slight give of the suspension cable — a physical sensation of being held above the water, supported by nothing visible. 'That feeling,' she said, 'is what I think about when I think about my wedding. That I was floating.'
