Inter-caste Hindu couples can marry at nearly every temple in and around Bangalore in 2026. Government-administered Muzrai temples, and ISKCON, follow the Hindu Marriage Act 1955, which does not distinguish by caste; the temple office asks for ID, the muhurtham and sometimes gotra and nakshatra for the sankalpa. The Arya Samaj conducts the wedding for inter-caste couples as a matter of course and, after a shuddhi ceremony it also certifies, for couples where one partner was born into another faith. Every kalyana mantapa and hotel in the city is simply a venue contract with no caste question in it at all.
Where one partner is from outside the Hindu fold and does not want shuddhi, Special Marriage Act registration paired with a temple blessing is the cleaner route, and we have designed several weddings that way.
Couples come to this question expecting to be told what is difficult. Most of what they have been told is out of date, and a good part of it was never about the venue in the first place.
The temples
Inter-caste Hindu couples can marry at nearly every temple in and around Bangalore. What the temple office asks for is ID, the muhurtham, and sometimes gotra and nakshatra for the sankalpa.
Five options come up in most of the temple conversations we have:

The Arya Samaj
The Arya Samaj is a Vedic institution rather than a deity temple, and it is the route many inter-caste couples in Bangalore take. Its pandits conduct the wedding with a havan and mantras, at the mandir or at your venue, and issue a certificate. Per the Arya Samaj Bangalore website it can be completed inside a day once documents are in order.
Inter-caste couples are accepted as a matter of course. Where one partner is from another faith, the Samaj conducts a shuddhi ceremony first, which it also certifies. Fees are modest and best confirmed by phone: 080 4978 4537 or 080 2525 7756.
One point that trips families up. An Arya Samaj wedding is a religious ceremony under the Hindu Marriage Act, and its certificate is proof that the ceremony took place. It is not a court marriage, and registration with the Sub-Registrar is still needed for the certificate a bank, passport office or consulate will accept. That registration is the easy version, with no notice period, because the ceremony has already happened. The ceremony travels, which is useful. Several of our couples have had the Arya Samaj rites on a hotel lawn before the reception.
The Special Marriage Act route
Where one partner is outside the Hindu, Buddhist, Jain or Sikh fold and does not want a shuddhi ceremony, the Special Marriage Act 1954 is the cleaner path. It is a civil marriage with no religious rites, and it asks neither family to give anything up.
It takes a minimum of 31 days. One partner must have lived in the district of the Marriage Officer for at least 30 days before the notice; both sign a notice of intended marriage, filed today through a Kaveri Online Services appointment; the Marriage Officer displays it publicly for 30 days; and after the window closes the couple and three witnesses sign a declaration and the marriage is solemnised. The notice cannot be waived. It sits in the statute, and neither a Sub-Registrar nor a District Registrar in Karnataka has discretion over it.
On cost, the Karnataka schedule lists ₹3 for the notice and ₹10 for solemnisation, with ₹15 extra for solemnising outside the officer's office. Kaveri adds service and scanning charges, and the affidavit costs stamp paper plus a notary fee. Schedules are revised periodically, so confirm at the office. Pairing the certificate with a temple blessing is a shape we have designed several times. The law is settled by one route and the meaning by another, and nobody is asked to convert for the sake of a form.
The venues nobody warns you about, because there is nothing to warn about
Every commercial venue in Bangalore hosts love marriages, and this is worth saying plainly because families rarely hear it said. A kalyana mantapa, a hotel ballroom, a garden estate: none of them asks a caste question, because a venue contract is a venue contract.
Community and trust-run mantapas in Basavanagudi, Malleshwaram and Rajajinagar run roughly ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh a day, and neighbourhood halls ₹1.5 to ₹3.5 lakh. The full picture by area is in our kalyana mantapa price guide. The constraint on a love marriage in Bangalore is very seldom the venue.
What we handle
Not the filing. A lawyer or the Sub-Registrar office does that better than we would, and we say so rather than charge for standing next to it.
What we design is the celebration, and inter-faith and inter-caste couples are the ones who get the most from a design studio. Without a single inherited tradition to lean on, the reception has to be drawn rather than assumed, and that is the work we are actually good at.
Three shapes recur. A registration morning with ten to thirty people and a long table afterwards. A registration now and a ritual wedding later, on a date the panchang and both families agree on. And a registration plus one designed reception of 150 to 400 guests, which is the one inter-faith couples choose most often: one evening that belongs equally to both families, rather than two ceremonies that each belong to one.
