The verdict: choose Taj Exotica when the wedding needs a real beach ceremony and a South Goa address — 56 acres at Benaulim, 140 rooms, ₹4,500–₹7,000 per plate, ₹40–65 lakh all-in for 200 guests and ₹70 lakh–₹1.2 crore for 400; choose Grand Hyatt Goa when the list is 300–1,500 and rooms, indoor space and airport time decide it — 313 rooms, 50,000 sq ft of event space on Bambolim Bay, ₹3,500–₹7,000 per plate, about 15 minutes from Dabolim, with catering for 300 guests over two functions at ₹21–42 lakh. Different weddings, not a better hotel.

Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Goa

₹4,500–7,000

The Grand Lawn takes 600+ guests, the beach takes a 250-guest ceremony with a mandap platform on the sand (the beach set-up adds ₹2–5 lakh), and the rooms run ₹15,000–₹35,000+ a night with a 15–20% group rate. A 200-guest, three-event wedding lands at ₹40–65 lakh; 400 guests over four events at ₹70 lakh–₹1.2 crore. Dabolim is about 40 minutes away, Mopa about 90. The constraint is the room count: above 300 guests you block overflow rooms at Holiday Inn, Kenilworth or Caravela, which we negotiate as a secondary block.

Grand Hyatt Goa

Venue 02
Grand Hyatt Goa
Goa’s largest luxury hotel — 313 rooms and 50,000 sq ft of event space on Bambolim Bay

₹3,500–7,000

For 500–1,500 guests it is the most capable venue in Goa: multiple indoor and outdoor areas overlooking the bay, a ballroom behind every lawn so the monsoon plan is built in, and enough rooms that a 400-guest wedding sleeps on site. Catering for a two-function wedding runs about ₹11–21 lakh for 150 guests, ₹21–42 lakh for 300 and ₹35–70 lakh for 500, before rooms, decor and taxes. It is roughly 15 minutes from Dabolim — the shortest transfer of any major luxury hotel in Goa. What it does not have is direct beach access; the bay is the view, not the aisle.

Indicative: per-plate band × guests × functions from our own venue database and the 2026 rate cards — not a quote. Hotels price on a minimum guarantee of plates and a shortfall on a light count is negotiable. Last updated: August 2026 · Reviewed by Panigrahana’s founding team.

The Panigrahana Verdict

Choose Taj Exotica if...
The beach is the wedding
You want the pheras on sand at sunset and the reception on the Grand Lawn, your list is 150–400, and South Goa’s quiet is part of the brief. Block overflow rooms early and put guests on Dabolim flights.
Choose Grand Hyatt Goa if...
Rooms, scale and the airport decide it
Your list is 300 or more, you want everyone sleeping on site, a ballroom behind every lawn, and the shortest airport transfer in Goa. The bay is a beautiful backdrop; it is not a beach ceremony.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Grand Hyatt Goa cheaper than Taj Exotica for a wedding?

Slightly, per plate: ₹3,500–₹7,000 at Grand Hyatt against ₹4,500–₹7,000 at Taj Exotica. For 300 guests over two functions that is roughly ₹21–42 lakh against ₹27–42 lakh in catering, before rooms and decor. Indicative, not a quote.

Which has more rooms — Taj Exotica or Grand Hyatt Goa?

Grand Hyatt Goa has 313 rooms, Taj Exotica 140. Above about 300 guests, Taj Exotica needs an overflow block at a nearby resort; Grand Hyatt usually keeps the whole wedding on site.

Can we have a beach ceremony at Grand Hyatt Goa?

No — Grand Hyatt sits on Bambolim Bay with bay-view lawns but no direct beach. Taj Exotica has a reserved stretch of Benaulim beach for ceremonies of up to about 250 guests, with a set-up cost of ₹2–5 lakh.

Which is closer to the airport?

Grand Hyatt Goa is about 15 minutes from Dabolim, the shortest transfer of any major luxury hotel in Goa. Taj Exotica at Benaulim is about 40 minutes from Dabolim and 90 from Mopa.

Which is safer for a monsoon or rain-risk date?

Grand Hyatt: its 50,000 sq ft of event space includes indoor rooms behind the lawns, so every outdoor function has a contracted indoor twin. Taj Exotica has a ballroom, but its beach and Grand Lawn are the reason to book it, and both are weather-dependent.
