A full 2-day South Indian ceremony with all rituals intact, followed by a reception that stretched until 4am — traditional at its core, distinctly Goa in its energy.

Anish and Devika's choice of North Goa's Arpora belt was a deliberate concession to their guest demographics — a younger, predominantly tech-industry crowd who would inevitably want to extend the celebration into the broader Goa night. DoubleTree's location, within easy reach of the North Goa party district, made that possible without requiring the wedding itself to be anything other than what it was: a full South Indian Hindu ceremony of genuine traditional depth.

The ceremony design prioritised ritual fidelity above all else. We brought a pandit from Udupi who had performed this specific family's ancestral ceremony format for two generations. The two-day ritual sequence — nischayathartham, muhurtham, and all the specific rituals of the Nambiar family tradition — was conducted without abbreviation or modernisation.

The contrast between the ceremony's anchored traditionalism and the reception's unbounded energy was deliberate and effective. At 9pm on the second day, the ceremony concluded. By 9:30, the sound system was live, and by 10, the dance floor had absorbed most of the 140 guests. The reception ran until 4am — a detail that Anish described, with visible satisfaction, as 'perfectly Goa.'

Devika wrote to us a month later: 'I worried that traditional and fun couldn't coexist in the same wedding. You showed me they could. My grandparents cried at the ceremony. My friends danced until 4am. Both things happened at the same wedding. I did not know that was possible.'
