Avinash & Priya
Pune → Marriott Resort & Spa, Cavelossim, South Goa
A ceremony timed precisely to the December golden hour, the most reliable sunset sightline in South Goa, and a reception that unfolded across the main lawn and pool deck simultaneously.
The Marriott Goa's beachfront lawn has a sightline advantage that few Goa venues share: the western horizon is completely unobstructed from the ceremony position, and the December sun sets almost directly ahead of the mandap axis. Avinash and Priya chose their wedding date — the 15th of December — by working backward from the sunset time tables for that stretch of coast, identifying the day with the optimal light angle for their mandap orientation.
The ceremony began at 5:22pm. The photographs taken in the 14 minutes between the ceremony exchange and sunset — with the golden light flooding the mandap from the west — were exactly what the data had predicted and exactly what the couple had planned for. It is one of the rare occasions where a wedding was scheduled around a celestial event and the weather fully cooperated.
The reception unfolded across two simultaneous spaces: the main lawn for dining, the pool deck for dancing. This dual-space structure allowed 220 guests to self-select their preferred mode of celebration at any point in the evening — those who wanted to sit and talk could do so without the dance floor music intruding; those who wanted to dance could do so without the dinner conversation overwhelming the music.
The coordination between two simultaneous event spaces — two sound systems, two lighting rigs, two service teams — was the most complex single-event logistics our Goa team managed that season. That the guests experienced it as seamless, as though there were simply two natural moods to the evening, was the result of weeks of operational planning.
