A 500-guest grand reception on the Alila Lawn — white and gold decor across 10,000 square feet, a live orchestra, and the sheer scale of Hyatt's event infrastructure at its most impressive.

Mithun's family came from Delhi; Lavanya's from Chennai. The two guest lists combined to 500 people with distinct regional sensibilities, food preferences, and ceremonial expectations. Grand Hyatt Goa was chosen because it is one of the only venues in Goa with the infrastructure — kitchen scale, event staffing, logistics network — to serve 500 guests without the seams showing.

The Alila Lawn, at nearly 10,000 square feet of manicured outdoor space overlooking Bambolim Bay, was transformed over 48 hours. Our production team installed a suspended white drape canopy that covered the entire lawn area, with 240 individual light points creating a ceiling of warm stars above the guests. The gold and white floral table arrangements used 12,000 roses and 8,000 chrysanthemums.

A 14-piece live orchestra performed through the first three courses of dinner. The repertoire moved from classical Carnatic pieces for the ceremony portion through to Bollywood orchestrations for the reception, a musical transition that mapped the journey of the two families meeting and merging. The dance floor opened at 10pm and was still full at 1am.

Lavanya later told us that what impressed her most was not the scale but the invisibility of the effort — that 500 guests experienced the evening as seamless, as though the 200 people working backstage simply did not exist. 'That,' she said, 'is the real art of it.'
