For most Goa weddings, guests will fly into Dabolim. If your venue is in North Goa and a significant proportion of guests are flying from Delhi or Mumbai, it is worth checking Mopa connections — the 30-40 minute time saving on the transfer is meaningful across 150 guests.

A room block is a guaranteed reservation of rooms at the wedding venue at a negotiated rate. This is not optional for a destination wedding — it is one of the most important commercial negotiations in the entire planning process.

Here is how room blocks work and where most couples go wrong:

• Negotiate as part of the venue contract, not separately. The room block and the event space are linked — the venue wants guaranteed room revenue in exchange for giving you the event spaces. These negotiations happen together.
• Understand the minimum commitment. You commit to a guaranteed minimum number of room nights. If your guests do not book those rooms and the release date passes, you owe the hotel the difference.
