A Kalyanam in a Garden: Sharanya & Vishal at MG Magnus (Miraya Greens), Bangalore

A Tamil Brahmin wedding that let the venue's trees do the talking — jasmine garlands and a kolam for the morning kalyanam, and a canopy full of cane lanterns for the night.

The morning belonged to tradition

Sharanya and Vishal's kalyanam at MG Magnus (Miraya Greens) on 7 June 2026 was a Tamil Brahmin wedding, and the morning looked exactly the way a kalyanam should. A kolam drawn across the stone path. An entrance gate hung with strings of tuberose and pink flower drops. A welcome board with the couple's names under a banana-leaf illustration, dressed in jasmine strands and pink kanakambara clusters.

The detail guests circled back to all day was a vignette built around a carved vintage vanity: the couple's hashtag lettered across the mirror, a brass Nandi wearing a white flower garland, a silk saree spilling off the table, brass lamps and kalash around the base.

Cane, jasmine and dried palm — one palette all day

The design held to one material story: cane, bamboo, jasmine and dried palm against the venue's green. A portrait corner with a cane bench, arched boards and dried palm fans. After dark, a bamboo A-frame walkway ran down the garden path, each frame hung with a cane lampshade and threaded with fairy lights.

Lanterns in the trees

MG Magnus sits under real tree canopy, so instead of building a ceiling we hung one: dozens of cane lanterns, bells and vine garlands strung directly into the branches above a beige-draped pergola stage. The reception entrance carried a grid structure of glass-shielded candles planted in beds of white chrysanthemums, beside a board of the couple's childhood photographs.

Why this venue works for a kalyanam-to-reception day

A Tamil Brahmin wedding runs long, and MG Magnus (Miraya Greens, on Sakalwara Road off Bannerghatta Road) handles the full arc without a venue change. The garden reads completely different at 9am and 9pm, so morning tradition and evening celebration each get their own backdrop while guests never move.
