Crimson at the Palace: Dania & Mohammad's Reception at The Leela Palace Bengaluru

One colour, taken seriously. How Panigrahana built a red velvet reception at The Leela Palace Bengaluru — three chandelier arches on stage, and a candlelit welcome in the marble lobby.

One colour, taken seriously

Dania and Mohammad's wedding reception at The Leela Palace Bengaluru was built on a single decision: deep red, held all the way down. Not red accents on a neutral room — red walls, red velvet, red florals, a red patterned carpet underfoot, and warm candlelight as the only counterpoint.

The material doing the heavy lifting was velvet rather than flowers. Velvet drapes behind every arch, velvet-wrapped columns, strings of velvet spheres climbing the archways and pooling at their feet. Roses and carnations were massed where they counted instead of spread thin everywhere.

Three arches, chandeliers hung low

The stage was three freestanding arched walls, staggered in depth so the set reads as rooms within a room. Inside each arch mouth we hung crystal chandeliers — low, at different heights, where guests actually see them. A red Persian-patterned carpet ran the full stage so the arches, drapes and ground read as one continuous room.

The lobby did its own work

The photo wall was burgundy velvet in crossed drapes, flanked by a rose-and-eucalyptus installation and brass candelabras strung with pearls, standing on the lobby's black-and-white marble border. The welcome board carried the couple's monogram and names hand-lettered in gold on deep maroon, with Moroccan lanterns and glass-shielded candles at its base.

Building red-on-red at a palace hotel

A set like this goes up overnight. Freestanding arch walls need weighted bases, chandeliers need power dropped exactly where the design says, and all of it loads in and out on the hotel's schedule. The Leela's banquet and engineering teams were precise about every window — which is what a production crew needs most from a venue.
