Sixty guests, a Hindu mandap on a cliff terrace 150 metres above the Indian Ocean, and a design that bridged two Hindu cultures in the most spectacular natural setting in Bali.

Rohan and Kavya came to us with a photograph — the BVLGARI terrace at dusk, the ocean below, no other reference. They wanted something that felt like that image translated into a wedding. Working with the Bulgari team's strict venue guidelines and our own Balinese floriculture partners, we built a mandap concept that neither compromised the venue's architectural lines nor diluted the ceremony's Hindu integrity.

The floral architecture drew on two traditions simultaneously: cascading white Balinese orchids and sacred Indian marigolds, palm frond canopies and crimson hibiscus. The Bulgari's own Balinese Hindu blessing, performed at the resort's temple each morning, felt like a resonant echo of the ceremony our pandit conducted on the terrace.

At 60 guests, this was intimate enough that every person in the room could see Kavya's face throughout. Rohan, who had attended weddings across four countries, said afterwards that he had never seen an audience so completely still during a ceremony — the combination of the setting, the ritual, and the silence 150 metres above the surf produced something genuinely meditative.

The photographs — which appeared in two international wedding publications — look, as Rohan predicted, exactly like they belong in a magazine. 'I always believed Bali would produce the most beautiful images,' he told us later. 'I did not know the wedding itself would be the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.'
