About The Leela Palace Bengaluru
The Leela Palace Bengaluru is the only hotel in the city where the building is already the decor. The pink Mysore-inspired facade, the green domes, the carved sandstone colonnades and the forty-foot arched porte-cochère opening onto palms and lawn mean a wedding photograph taken here carries the venue in it before a single flower is placed. That is a real and unusual asset. On most Bangalore properties the design has to supply all the atmosphere; here about half of it arrives free. It is also why the hotel photographs so well from the outside, and why couples who have never set foot in it recognise it instantly.
Inside, the wedding geometry is more particular than the hotel's reputation suggests, and it is worth understanding before you plan. There is no single 2,000-guest room. The Maharaja Ballroom is the big one, 10,000 square feet including its lounge and show kitchen, rated by the hotel at a thousand guests, and its real advantage is the Lotus Courtyard, a 3,596 square foot open courtyard attached to it and ringed by the palace's own colonnade. The Grand Ballroom on the mezzanine is 4,400 square feet with the tallest ceiling on the property at fifteen feet and a reception rating of a thousand, and the Royal Ballroom next to it is 2,700 square feet at three hundred. Below those sit a dozen smaller rooms and terraces, Diya, Surya, Sitara, Kamal and Nidhi among them, most under a thousand square feet and most with a terrace attached.
Read together, that describes a venue built for a multi-room wedding rather than a single-hall one. A hundred and fifty people can take Diya and its terrace for a ritual lunch while three hundred are in the Royal Ballroom and the reception is being built in the Maharaja wing. Three hundred and fifty-seven rooms mean a fly-in family sleeps, dresses and walks to every function without a car. What you do not get is a lawn. The outdoor spaces are courtyards, terraces and a poolside rather than acreage, and a couple who has pictured a garden ceremony under trees is describing Taj West End. What you do get is a central address that needs no explanation to anybody's parents, and a property that looks like a palace in every frame.

Designed, not just planned
How we would design a wedding at The Leela Palace Bengaluru
The brief here is to take away rather than add. The palace already supplies pink sandstone, carved colonnades, crystal chandeliers, blue-and-gold patterned carpet and gold-and-cream banquet interiors, and a decor scheme that competes with all of that reads as noise. In the Maharaja Ballroom and the Grand Ballroom the existing carpet is the loudest element in the room, so a palette drawn out of it, ivory with old gold and a single deep accent, sits, while a contemporary blush-and-sage scheme fights it. If the couple wants a modern palette, the honest route is a full floor and ceiling treatment costed in from the start rather than a compromise. Ceiling heights are modest for a palace. The Grand Ballroom is the only room at 15 ft, the Maharaja wing runs 12–13 ft, and the smaller rooms sit at 8–10 ft, which rules out tall centrepieces and deep suspended installations across most of the property and pushes the design down to table level, into the aisle and onto the walls. Plan the reception in the Grand Ballroom if the design depends on anything hanging. The Lotus Courtyard is the asset to build around: 65 by 45 feet of open stone floor inside a carved colonnade, with the palace rising on all sides. Keep structures low and off the colonnade line, light the arches rather than the floor, and let the architecture be the backdrop. The hotel's own photograph of it dressed with nothing more than high tables and candlelight is the proof of concept. Natural light is scarce here, confined to Diya, Surya and the Maharaja wing, so a daytime ritual that needs real light has to be planned into those rooms specifically. And on load-in: the Grand and Royal Ballrooms are on the mezzanine, so a heavy build upstairs depends on service-lift dimensions and timing. Get both in writing before you design anything that will not fit in a lift.

Season and weather
October to March is the window, with November to February the most comfortable for the Lotus Courtyard and the terraces: dry days, evenings around 15–20°C. Peak and muhurtham-heavy weekends in that band go 10 to 14 months ahead and carry the highest minimum guarantees. April to June is warm but almost entirely workable, because the programme is largely indoors, and it is often better value. June to September is monsoon and belongs in the ballrooms, which this property has in quantity, so a monsoon date here costs you the courtyard rather than the wedding.
Arrivals, access and logistics
Kempegowda International Airport is 45 km away by The Leela's own March 2025 factsheet, roughly 60 to 90 minutes depending on the hour, and the longest airport run of any five-star wedding hotel on this shortlist. The compensation is that the hotel is central. Indiranagar and Domlur are minutes away, Koramangala and MG Road within twenty to thirty, so a Bengaluru guest list has almost no travel. For overseas families the answer is the room block: 357 rooms means the entire contingent stays where the wedding is and the airport run happens once. Old Airport Road traffic peaks between 6 and 8 pm on weekdays, so a 7:30 pm reception with valet drop-off is the usual plan. For 800-plus arrivals, agree an arrival window with the hotel and shuttle any overflow so the forecourt stays clear for the baraat. Decor and production vehicles use the service entrance, and anything going to the mezzanine ballrooms goes by service lift.

Does The Leela Palace have a 2,000-guest ballroom?
No. The Leela's capacity chart and meetings page (checked 11 September 2026) list no room above 1,000. The Maharaja Ballroom is rated at 1,000, and the Grand Ballroom at 1,000 for a reception, or 500 on the meetings page. Plan to the hotel's numbers and ask for the seated figure for your layout.
Does The Leela Palace Bengaluru have lawns for an outdoor wedding?
Not lawns in the sense of open acreage. The outdoor spaces are the 3,596 sq ft Lotus Courtyard off the Maharaja Ballroom, a poolside listed at 200 seated or 350 standing on WedMeGood, and terraces off Diya (980 sq ft) and Surya (1,520 sq ft). For a ceremony on open grass, look at Taj West End.
Does The Leela Palace charge venue rental or a minimum guarantee?
A minimum guarantee. There is no flat rental: each space carries a food-and-beverage floor expressed as a plate count, and hire is effectively nil once you meet it. With a 400-plate floor and 320 guests, you pay a shortfall on 80 plates, usually negotiated below the full plate rate. Get the minimum per space and per function in writing.
Is there a Leela Palace engagement package?
Not a fixed one. The hotel sells engagements and weddings per plate, from ₹4,500 vegetarian and ₹5,000 non-vegetarian on its WedMeGood listing, against a minimum for each space. The same listing shows a destination format of ₹45 lakh a day for 100 rooms, covering rooms, three meals and the venue (checked 27 September 2026). The Royal Ballroom suits most engagements.
How many rooms does The Leela Palace Bengaluru have?
357 rooms and suites on one property, per The Leela's March 2025 factsheet and the WedMeGood listing, which shows a room rate of about ₹26,000 (checked 27 September 2026). Categories run from Deluxe rooms to the Maharaja suites. Wedding blocks are negotiated against a cut-off date; ask for a late release, because overseas guests book last.
How far is The Leela Palace Bengaluru from the airport?
45 km, per The Leela's March 2025 factsheet, which is roughly 60 to 90 minutes by car depending on the hour. That is the trade for a central address between Indiranagar and Domlur. With 357 rooms on site, overseas guests make the airport drive once and then walk to every function.
Leela Palace or Leela Bhartiya City for a 500-guest wedding?
Both fit 500; rooms and location decide it. The Leela Palace's Maharaja Ballroom takes up to 1,000, with 357 rooms and a central address. The Leela Bhartiya City's pillarless Grand Ballroom takes 780 at round tables and 1,400 at a reception, with 281 rooms, 24 km from the airport (each hotel's Leela chart and factsheet).
What are the best months for a wedding at The Leela Palace Bengaluru?
October to March, with November to February the most comfortable for the Lotus Courtyard and terraces. Peak weekends in that window go 10 to 14 months ahead and carry the highest minimum guarantees. April to June is warm but workable, as the programme is mostly indoors. The June to September monsoon costs you the courtyard, not the wedding.
Can we bring our own decorator to The Leela Palace Bengaluru?
Yes. The WedMeGood listing records outside decorators as permitted, and the hotel also has its own panel florals team. Get in writing any access fee, separate load-in times for the Maharaja wing and the mezzanine ballrooms, ceiling-load limits, and the open-flame and fireworks terms for each space. Mezzanine builds depend on the service lift, so measure it first.
Who handles catering and alcohol at The Leela Palace Bengaluru?
The hotel does both. Catering is in-house only and outside alcohol is not permitted (WedMeGood listing); the bar is priced separately from the plate, per bottle or as a package. Vegetarian, Jain and sattvic menus are built with the chef at the tasting, so tell the banquet team about Jain or allergy needs when you sign.
Can we hold a homam and an early-morning muhurtham at The Leela Palace?
Yes. A homam runs under the hotel's fire-safety terms, which set its size and position and differ between a ballroom and the Lotus Courtyard, so get them in writing for each space. A 6 am muhurtham works because guests sleep on site; confirm the earliest access for the priest and decor team, which means releasing the room the night before.
What are the hidden costs at a Leela Palace wedding?
Mostly costs the first quote leaves out: tax and service charge on the plate, any shortfall below the minimum guarantee, bar and corkage terms, access fees for an outside decor team, room-block attrition after the cut-off, early-access charges for a 6 am muhurtham, and power and rigging for a large build. Ask for each as a written line item.
Is The Leela Palace comfortable for elderly guests?
Yes. Lifts serve all 357 rooms and the distances inside one property are short, so grandparents can attend an early muhurtham and rest before the reception without a car. The Grand and Royal Ballrooms are on the mezzanine, so ask for lift-adjacent rooms, wheelchairs or buggies between the wings, and ramp access to any raised mandap.
Is there parking at The Leela Palace for a large wedding?
There is valet parking and a dedicated forecourt, and the WedMeGood listing says parking is sufficient without giving a count. Old Airport Road traffic peaks between 6 and 8 pm on weekdays, so a 7.30 pm reception with valet drop-off is the usual plan. For 800-plus arrivals, agree an arrival window and shuttle the overflow.
