Before you decide
How can we assess a wedding planner before paying?
Ask who will deliver your wedding, what the planning fee covers, who receives supplier payments and whether recommendations involve commissions or other commercial relationships. Compare written scopes and ask for relevant completed work, with permission to speak to a past couple where possible.
Separate the venue's responsibilities from the planner's and each supplier's. Ask who resolves a missed handoff, who can approve additional spending, and how you will be told about delays. A portfolio shows completed work; use a scope, a named delivery lead and an example progress record to understand how your own wedding would be managed. Record the agreed terms before payment.
How can we compare the full cost of wedding quotations?
Compare the same dates, event spaces, guest counts, meals, rooms and nights. Separate venue, catering, accommodation, decor, production, planning, travel and personal purchases. Mark each item as included, extra or not specified, and ask for written clarification before treating the figures as comparable.
Check taxes, service charges, power, vendor access, extra time, transport, accommodation outside the event nights and guest-paid items. A missing line is not proof of a hidden charge. Keep confirmed prices separate from estimates and show the source and validity of each quotation. Additional guests change applicable costs; they do not automatically increase every fixed fee.

Illustrative example. These numbers are synthetic, not supplier rates or completed wedding data. Assume 150 meal guests, 40 rooms for 2 nights, and two functions. Every rate below is only an arithmetic input.

Known cash needed for these lines and the deposit is ₹7,40,000 before unresolved taxes and charges. This is not a confirmed all-in total or final spend. Increasing only that meal from 150 to 200 guests adds ₹50,000 before tax; it does not increase the fixed production line. Other functions, suppliers and personal costs are excluded.
For families abroad, the illustrative ₹7,40,000 is about US$7,720, £5,830, AED 28,300, C$10,900 and A$11,000 at the 26 Sep 2026 rate; contracts are in INR. The rate is a display aid, not a quote.
