Designed, not just planned

How we would design a wedding at Evolve Back Hampi (Kamalapura Palace)

The architecture is already a set: carved stone, arches, domed pavilions and water channels in a warm sandstone palette. Decor that competes with it looks cheap within a few metres. We would work in brass, ivory, marigold and raw cotton, use diyas and low lanterns along the water channels instead of truss lighting, and let the palace facade be the backdrop rather than hiding it behind a printed panel. The Deep Mahal lounge, lit only by diyas, is the reference for the light level the whole property wants after dark. The landscape is hot and exposed, so every daytime function needs shade planned in fabric that belongs to the place: canopies in unbleached cotton, not white marquee.

Which function goes where

Mehendi	Around the Infinity Pool in the afternoon, when the stone is warm and the boulder hills behind it catch the light. Keep it seated and low.
Sangeet	The Corporate Hall, because it is the only indoor room and outdoor music has to stop at 10 pm. At 100 floating it suits a family sangeet, not a stage show.
Wedding ceremony	Only once the resort has confirmed in writing that your ceremony and its rituals are allowed on the property. If they are, the forecourt and palace facades give a ceremony a setting that needs very little building.
Reception	The Infinity Pool area, listed at 180 floating, as a dinner after dark. The resort's intimate dining settings (Pushkarni, Katha terrace, By the Boulders) suit a rehearsal dinner for the immediate family.

Season and weather

November to February is the comfortable window. Hampi is very hot from March to May, and the Infinity Pool area is an outdoor space, so evening functions are the only practical ones in those months. Check flight schedules into Vidyanagar for your dates before fixing them.

Vidyanagar airport (VDY) is 30 km away, about 45 to 50 minutes, and the resort says it has direct flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Hubli (HBX) is 180 km and Kempegowda International (BLR) is 368 km, about five and a half hours on the Hampi Expressway (NH-50). Bengaluru city is 330 km by road. Flowers, structure and lighting will travel from Bengaluru or Hubli, so the decor budget carries a transport and crew-stay line that a city wedding does not. The resort gives drivers free food and accommodation in its own facility.
