How we would design a wedding at Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel, Mysore
The building is white and pale green with twin Ionic columns, domes and balustrades, and it photographs best when the decor stays below the first-floor line and lets the facade read. We would keep the mandap low and open, in ivory, gold and a single strong colour taken from the Mysore silk the family is wearing, and put the weight of the design into light: warm uplighting on the columns and domes after dark does more than any backdrop could. The palace interiors are period rooms with Italian marble and Belgian glass, so indoor functions need restraint and floor protection more than additions.
