Wedding planning & decor at Kshemyaa: how we would design it
The pavilion is a steel-framed open-sided structure, which is a rigging gift and a lighting problem. The trusses take ceiling swags, hanging floral and fixtures without any temporary structure, and the venue's own weddings lean hard on that. But the open sides mean the room has no walls to bounce light off and a dark boundary beyond, so every lumen you put up there has to be aimed. Uplighting the perimeter columns and washing the stage gives you the room; washing the ceiling gives you nothing. The carved wooden mandap on the stage is heavy and warm-toned, so keep the ceiling palette in the same family or it fights. Outdoors, the coconut boundary is the best backdrop on the property — set the lawn mandap against it rather than against the buildings, and light the trunks rather than the canopy.
