Taj Exotica is the most generously scaled beach canvas of the five. Its fifty-six acres of gardens run down to Benaulim beach, and the Beach Lawns take 800 seated or 1,700 standing, with the Village Lawn for 500 behind them (WedMeGood, checked 26 Sep 2026). The architecture is Goa-Portuguese neoclassical: white-and-terracotta facades, arched corridors, and manicured gardens that feel curated over decades. This property rewards restraint and elegance. Overdoing the decor here is a genuine risk — the venue is already so beautiful that heavy-handed decoration fights it.

The palette that works: ivory, white, gold, and tropical greens. Lush botanical styling against the neoclassical arches. For a beach ceremony on the Beach Lawns, a white-and-ivory mandap with king protea and garden rose accents is the canonical Taj Exotica Goa wedding aesthetic — and for good reason. It is magnificent.

Decor note: the WedMeGood listing allows outside decorators. Confirm the rules for structures on the lawns and near the sand, and the load-in route, in writing. Indoors, the Sala Grande (4,844 sq ft, 200 at rounds, Cvent) is the rain plan and the room for the party after 10 pm.

The St. Regis Goa (formerly The Leela Goa)

Mobor, Cavelossim, South Goa · Between the Sal River and the Sea

The St. Regis Goa sits on the Mobor peninsula between the Sal river and the Arabian Sea, and each outdoor room has its own light and wind. Marriott's chart lists the Great Lawns (400 at rounds, 600 at a reception), a seasonal beach venue (350 / 500), the Riverside Lawns on the Sal (88 / 200) and the Coconut Grove, which takes a 150-guest reception. The Glasshouse (350 / 600) is the covered room at lawn scale, and the Astor Ballroom (180 / 350) the compact indoor one.

River, grove, lawn and beach each want a different decision. Keep structures low and engineered, the palette pale against the sea, and light the long walks between the venues; the Astor Ballroom takes one stage wall and a lit ceiling. W Goa

Vagator Beach, North Goa · Contemporary Luxury

W Goa is a completely different animal. The Marriott W brand carries a bold, fashion-forward aesthetic — the architecture is angular, the colour palette is electric, the vibe is deliberately edgy. A traditional Indian wedding decor brief — heavy marigolds, soft ivory mandaps, gentle string lights — will look utterly wrong here. It will feel like someone brought the wrong wedding to the right venue.

Couples choosing W Goa want a wedding that feels contemporary, cool, and vaguely unconventional. The decor should match: sculptural floral installations, bold colour accents, geometric elements, strong graphic design. The bohemian side of Indian weddings (see our boho Goa guide) translates well here. The Vagator Beach location is spectacular — exposed, dramatic, cliff-adjacent. Use it.

Decor note: the Rockpool, the largest outdoor setting, takes 450 seated or 1,000 standing, and the WedMeGood listing allows outside decorators (checked 26 Sep 2026). The headland is sloped and windy, so every structure needs the resort's sign-off.

ITC Grand Goa (formerly Park Hyatt Goa)

Arossim Beach, South Goa · Village-Style Campus

ITC Grand Goa is a village-style campus of about 45 acres on Arossim beach (ITC Hotels), and it gives a designer three distinct outdoor characters. The Magical Forest is a wooded lawn for 300 at a banquet; the Dunes Lawns and the Seaside Lawns are open, for 500 each (Marriott, checked 26 Sep 2026). Indoors, the pillar-less Salcete Ballroom takes 250 at a banquet and divides into three.

Under the trees, lanterns and dappled light do most of the work; on the Dunes and Seaside Lawns, keep structures low for the wind and let the sunset lead. The ballroom is compact, so design it around a single stage wall and a lit ceiling. Decor note: the WedMeGood listing gives the resort's decor as in-house, so ask in writing whether an outside design team may work alongside it, and on what terms.

Grand Hyatt Goa

Bambolim Bay, North Goa · Scale Venue · 313 Rooms

Grand Hyatt Goa is the scale venue of the five. Its Grand Ballroom is 12,300 sq ft with a 23 ft ceiling and takes 860 at rounds, dividing into three sections of 260; the Salao takes another 260 (Hyatt capacity chart), and the resort has 313 rooms. Design the ballroom as one room with a strong centre, a suspended floral or light installation at the mid-point and a stage on the long wall, rather than three joined halls. The architecture is contemporary resort, less insistent than Taj Exotica's, which gives decor more freedom to set the visual language.

Recommendation: because the architecture is relatively neutral, Grand Hyatt Goa suits couples who want to bring a very specific design concept from scratch. The blank canvas quality is a feature for bold, original design briefs.
