Treat the auditorium as a theatre, because it is one. It comes with a lighting bar, a proscenium, house masking and a wooden stage floor, all of which a decorator can hang from and light with instead of building a structure. The right move is a stage design that uses the proscenium as its frame, with the house lights as the audience wash and a proper front-of-house rig on the couple, which is a very different plot from the flat colour wash most Bangalore weddings run. Do not carpet the stage: the sprung wooden floor is what makes a dance sequence sound right. The banquet hall is the opposite — a curved white ceiling and a glazed wall facing the garden, so it takes daylight beautifully until about four and then needs everything rebuilt in artificial light. The pre-function foyer's granite floor and double-height glazing make it the best-lit space in the building and the most under-used; a welcome installation there is the first thing guests see and the cheapest square metre on the property to make count.
