Thailand Destination Weddings
Visa on arrival. Direct flights from six Indian cities. Amanpuri, Six Senses Samui, Rosewood Phuket. Thailand offers international luxury at its finest — and it's built for Indian couples.
Thailand is, by almost every measure, the most accessible international destination wedding choice for Indian couples. Visa on arrival means no advance applications, no embassy queues, no paperwork bottlenecks — your entire guest list of 80, 100, or 200 simply lands and receives a stamp. The process takes 30–45 minutes at arrival for the whole group. No other luxury international destination matches this ease.
The flight map is unmatched in Asia outside Bali. Direct routes connect Bangkok and Phuket to Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. Most Indian guests reach their Thailand destination within 4–6 hours of leaving home. For Koh Samui, a short Bangkok connection adds 1 hour to the journey. For families with elderly grandparents or guests with mobility concerns, Thailand's short flight time and accessible airports are a genuine practical advantage.
The resort ecosystem is world-class by any global standard. Amanpuri is one of the most prestigious addresses in all of Asia. Six Senses Samui is among the most photographed resort settings in Southeast Asia. Rosewood Phuket sits on a dramatic cliff position above the Andaman Sea. Trisara's private pool villa model is the standard by which intimate luxury wedding resorts are judged globally. At every price point, Thailand's resorts deliver on their promise with a consistency that comes from decades of servicing sophisticated international guests.
The cultural resonance is underestimated. Thailand's Ramakien — the Thai version of the Ramayana — decorates royal palaces, temple murals, and classical dance traditions. Ganesh is widely revered. The Buddhist-Hindu cultural overlap is felt viscerally by Indian families who visit Thai temples, and it creates a warmth of connection that makes a Thai destination wedding feel like more than a resort booking — it feels like a civilisational homecoming of sorts. And at equivalent luxury, Thailand is typically 20–30% more cost-efficient than Maldives or Seychelles, with incomparably superior infrastructure for large Indian wedding productions.
Phuket, Koh Samui, and Krabi each represent a distinct wedding character. Same country, entirely different experiences.
The largest international resort ecosystem in Thailand. Amanpuri, Trisara, Sri Panwa, Rosewood Phuket, Keemala, The Nai Harn — a depth of choice unmatched elsewhere. Beach ceremonies and clifftop infinity pools. The most established Indian wedding infrastructure in Southeast Asia: Indian caterers, priests, and decor vendors well embedded. Best for couples who want scale, variety, and the full production.
Phuket Guide →Quieter, more intimate, and wilder than Phuket. Six Senses Samui — clifftop jungle villas overlooking the Gulf of Thailand — is one of the finest resort settings in all of Southeast Asia. Vana Belle and Conrad Koh Samui offer excellent alternatives. Best for couples of 30–100 guests who want romance, privacy, and an extraordinary sense of place over party energy. Journey is longer (Bangkok connection usually needed).
Samui vs Phuket →Towering limestone karsts rising from emerald water. Private beaches accessible only by longtail boat. Rayavadee sits between three beaches, surrounded by National Park. The most photogenic setting in Southeast Asia — no wedding setting in the world looks quite like Krabi. Intimate by design: most venues max 60–80 guests. For couples who want extraordinary over large.
Krabi Guide →Five venues that define what a Thailand wedding can be. Each exceptional — each entirely different in character and atmosphere.
Thailand has distinct weather patterns by region. Getting the season right is the single most important logistics decision for a Thailand destination wedding.
The dry season across Phuket, Krabi, and Phi Phi. Cool, clear, and predictable. The Andaman Sea is calm — boat trips and beach ceremonies are reliable. Peak season means resorts are at their best, fully staffed, and in highest demand. Book 12–18 months in advance for January and February dates. The ideal window for the vast majority of Thailand weddings.
Monsoon season on Thailand's west coast (Phuket, Krabi, Andaman Sea). Heavy rainfall, rough seas, and resort closures at some smaller properties. Outdoor ceremonies are high-risk. This period is strongly not recommended for Phuket or Krabi weddings. Koh Samui, on the east coast (Gulf of Thailand), has its own weather pattern — see below.
Koh Samui sits on the Gulf of Thailand (east coast) and has an inverted weather pattern to Phuket. Its dry season runs January through September. October–December is the rainy period for Samui. This means Koh Samui weddings are possible across a wider annual window than Phuket, and can be planned for months that Phuket considers its shoulder season.
Koh Samui's wet season — its rainy period falls while Phuket is entering its best weather. October and November can bring heavy northeast monsoon rains to Samui. For couples choosing Koh Samui, avoid this three-month window. Six Senses Samui typically recommends January–September as the prime wedding period.
Six guides covering every dimension of planning an Indian destination wedding in Thailand — from location comparison to community-specific ceremonies.
Indian passport holders receive a visa on arrival in Thailand — no advance application required. The stamp is valid for 15 days. For a wedding group of 60–200 guests, this means zero visa logistics: everyone simply lands and receives their entry stamp at the airport, typically within 30–45 minutes. No other luxury international wedding destination matches Thailand's access simplicity for Indian travellers.
Phuket suits larger Indian weddings (60–300 guests) with the deepest resort ecosystem and the most established Indian vendor infrastructure. Koh Samui is best for intimate weddings (30–100 guests) where atmosphere and romance are paramount — Six Senses Samui is the crown jewel. Krabi suits the most intimate celebrations (20–80 guests) for couples who want Thailand's most dramatic natural setting — limestone karsts, Rayavadee, and boat arrivals. Panigrahana works across all three and advises based on your specific guest count and aesthetic priorities.
November through April is the ideal window for Phuket and Krabi weddings — dry, clear, and calm. May through October is the Andaman monsoon and should be avoided for west coast venues. Koh Samui operates on an inverted calendar: January through September is the Samui dry season, while October–December is rainy. The most in-demand months across all locations are January and February — book 12–18 months in advance.
Yes. Panigrahana has a full in-country production network in Thailand. Indian caterers are established in Phuket, serving the large resident Indian community. Tamil and North Indian priests are available locally and can also be flown from Chennai or Bangalore. All ceremony logistics — mandap fabrication, floral sourcing, fire permit coordination with the resort, sound and lighting — are managed by our Thailand team. Nothing is left to the resort's standard offering.
Both are exceptional choices with different strengths. Bali excels in cultural richness, villa wedding options, and a wide range of price points. Thailand excels in resort luxury infrastructure, flight connectivity (more direct routes from India), visa simplicity, and the sheer scale of its five-star resort ecosystem at the top end. For weddings of 100+ guests at the luxury tier, Thailand's Phuket often outperforms Bali in terms of venue quality, accommodation capacity, and production infrastructure. For intimate villa weddings and couples who want deep cultural immersion, Bali has an edge.
A full Indian destination wedding at Trisara or Amanpuri (80 guests, 3 days) typically runs USD 120,000–250,000 all-inclusive. Sri Panwa or Rosewood Phuket (150 guests, 3 days): USD 130,000–220,000. Six Senses Samui (50 guests, 2 days): USD 80,000–140,000. These figures include venue fees, accommodation, Indian catering, ceremony production, and decor. Thailand is typically 20–30% more cost-efficient than Maldives or Seychelles at equivalent luxury. Panigrahana provides detailed, itemised cost estimates from the first conversation.
