If you live in Australia, New Zealand or Singapore and are marrying in Bangalore, Goa or Kerala, the job is mostly a decision-making problem rather than a taste problem: you cannot be in the room, so somebody has to be, and everything agreed has to be written down. The structure that makes remote planning work
Five things to fix in the first fortnight
- Name one decision-maker on the couple's side per area — design, money, guests — so vendors are not waiting on a family consensus.
- Name one family contact on the ground in India who can physically attend, and agree what they can and cannot approve.
- Agree that nothing is confirmed without a written note on a shared thread, so nobody wakes up to a decision they did not make.
- Put every vendor payment on a bank transfer against an invoice, never cash handed over by a relative.
- Fix the one India trip early and build the calendar around it rather than hoping for a second.
The pattern that breaks remote weddings is almost never a bad vendor. It is a couple asleep while decisions are made, finding out afterwards. That is a timezone problem disguised as a family problem, and it is solved by the written-note rule above.

Wherever you are, the number of India trips is a design choice rather than a fixed requirement. One focused trip covers the venue walk-through, the food tasting and one working session with whoever builds the decor. Everything else can be done properly on video and in writing.

Money, contracts and the questions families abroad actually ask
- Every vendor payment goes by bank transfer against an invoice, so the wedding can be reconstructed afterwards line by line
- The proposal states payment amounts, due dates and the delivery or approval milestone each payment is tied to
- A GST invoice is issued for our fee; the GSTIN is in the company's name and you can verify it
- Our entity and CIN are public and worth checking on the MCA portal before any advance changes hands
- Cancellation and refund terms belong in the document before the first payment, not in a conversation afterwards
Families abroad carry a specific fear — that distance makes them easy to overcharge. The defence is boring and it works: written scope, invoiced payments, a verifiable entity, and no commission flowing to the person recommending the vendors.
Questions couples ask
How many trips to India do we need?
One focused trip is usually enough: the venue walk-through, the food tasting and one working session on the design. If you are in Singapore or Malaysia, two short trips are often easier than one long one. From Australia or New Zealand, one trip plus disciplined weekly video calls is the realistic pattern.
Can venue walkthroughs and tastings be done on video?
Walk-throughs, yes — we film them properly rather than holding a phone up, and we film the things brochures leave out, like the route guests actually take and where the generators sit. Tastings are the one thing worth doing in person, because nobody can taste over video and catering is the largest single line in most weddings.
Which is easier for an overseas family — Bangalore, Goa or Kerala?
Bangalore, if most of your guests are Indian residents and you want a city wedding with hotel rooms. Goa, if the guest list is largely flying in and you want the wedding to be a holiday. Kerala, if the family wants tradition and quiet. All three are in our working region, so the answer can be argued rather than sold.
How do we send money to India for the wedding?
By bank transfer against invoices, not cash. The practical detail — which account, how transfers are timed against the payment milestones, and what the paperwork should look like — is worth settling in the first fortnight rather than the week before. Our parents want to control the decisions. How does that work from abroad?
It works better than families expect if roles are named at the start: who decides design, who decides money, who decides the guest list. What fails is an unspoken assumption that the couple decides and parents approve, or the reverse. Naming it in week one removes most of the arguments that would otherwise land in month six.
Do you take commission from Indian vendors?
No. Clients pay vendors directly and we take nothing from them. It is the single most useful thing an overseas family can insist on, because a commission is invisible from 8,000 kilometres away.
What if we are in a country not listed here?
We have worked with couples in 12 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Gulf, which have their own pages. The structure is the same; only the call times and the money route change.
Can you handle guests flying in from several countries?
Yes, and it is worth planning as its own workstream. Arrival waves, room blocks, transfers and an arrival desk are what make a multi-country guest list feel looked after rather than merely invited.
