Palace and heritage wedding venues in Bangalore: historic buildings, heritage estates and palace hotels
Bangalore's palace and heritage wedding venues fall into three groups: historic buildings such as Jayamahal Palace and Taj West End, heritage-style estates such as Prangana and Tharavadu Mane, and palace-style hotels led by The Leela Palace. Their largest spaces hold 170 to 2,000 guests, and published plates run from ₹900 to ₹5,000 a head before taxes (WedMeGood, checked September 2026).
Panigrahana is a wedding design and planning studio, not a venue. The venue contracts with you for its spaces, rooms and food; we plan, design and build the wedding. Figures come from each venue's own site, its hotel group or its WedMeGood listing, checked between 5 September and 14 October 2026. Where a venue publishes nothing, this page prints nothing.

Palace and heritage wedding venues in Bangalore compared
Ten venues in and around the city, historic buildings first, then the heritage-style estates and the two palace-style hotels. Venue names open their own pages, with the policies and the questions to settle in writing.
| Venue | Kind and area | Largest space | Rooms | Price, basis and source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jayamahal Palace Hotel | Palace hotel, Jayamahal Road | Front Palace Lawn: 1,200 / 2,000 | 36 | ₹1,300 a vegetarian plate (WedMeGood, 11 Sep 2026) |
| Taj West End | Opened as an inn in 1887, Race Course Road | Prince of Wales Lawns: 300 / 1,200 | 117 | ₹4,500 a plate, veg or non-veg (WedMeGood, 11 Sep 2026) |
| Bowring Institute | Members' club founded in 1868, St. Marks Road | 80 to 1,200 guests | 26 | ₹2,200 veg / ₹2,500 non-veg a plate (WedMeGood, 5 Sep 2026) |
| Neemrana's Villa Pottipati | Restored villa, Malleswaram | Lawn: 120 / 170 | 8 | Price on request (WedMeGood, 11 Sep 2026) |
| The Tamarind Tree | Heritage-style estate, Kanakapura Road | Gazebo & Lawn: 600 / 1,500 | 28 | Price on request (venue site and WedMeGood, 27 Sep 2026) |
| Prangana | Heritage-style estate, Hesaraghatta Road | Kalyani mandap: 180 / 220 | 5 | From ₹3.9 lakh for venue hire (our venue record; WedMeGood lists rental only, 11 Sep 2026) |
| Tharavadu Mane | Traditional house-style venue, Yelahanka | Up to 200 guests (venue site, 14 Oct 2026) | 8 (our record; confirm) | Not published |
| Shree Swargha Heritage | Heritage-themed banquet venue, Thanisandra | 500 to 1,000 guests | Listings differ; confirm | ₹900 a vegetarian plate (WedMeGood, 5 Sep 2026) |
| The Leela Palace Bengaluru | Palace-style hotel, HAL Old Airport Road | Grand Ballroom: 240 / 1,000 | 357 | ₹4,500 veg / ₹5,000 non-veg a plate (WedMeGood, 11 Sep 2026) |
| ITC Windsor | Manor-style hotel, Golf Course Road | Regency 1: 225 / 500 | 239 | Not published; listed as price on request (WedMeGood, 26 Sep 2026) |
Taj West End, The Leela Palace and ITC Windsor sell on a food-and-beverage minimum for each function, so the hall costs nothing extra once you meet it. The Tamarind Tree and Prangana rent the property and you bring the caterer. Where two sources disagree, the row says so.
What each venue allows: decorators, caterers, alcohol and music
Read this table before you fall for a lawn. A venue that keeps decor in-house decides how much of your design can be built there, and one that takes outside caterers only leaves the menu and its price to you.
| Venue | Outside decorator | Caterer | Alcohol | Music outdoors |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jayamahal Palace Hotel | In-house decor team; confirm whether an outside studio may build | In-house or your own | In-house bar only | Stops at 10 pm |
| Taj West End | Permitted | In-house only | In-house bar only | Lawns stop at 10 pm; the Grand Ballroom runs later (our records) |
| Bowring Institute | In-house decor; confirm with the club | In-house only | Confirm | Stops at 10 pm |
| Neemrana's Villa Pottipati | From the venue's panel only | In-house only | Not permitted | Stops at 10 pm |
| The Tamarind Tree | Permitted, with no locked panel | Outside caterers only | Outside alcohol permitted | Stops at 10 pm |
| Prangana | Permitted | Outside caterers only | Outside alcohol permitted | Stops at 10 pm |
| Tharavadu Mane | Confirm | Confirm | Confirm | Stops at 10 pm |
| Shree Swargha Heritage | In-house decor | In-house or your own | Confirm | Stops at 10 pm; ask about the hall |
| The Leela Palace Bengaluru | Permitted | In-house only | In-house bar only | Courtyard, poolside and terraces stop at 10 pm; ballrooms run later |
| ITC Windsor | Permitted | In-house only | In-house bar only | Poolside stops at 10 pm; the Regency hall runs later |
The 10 pm line is national law. The Noise Pollution Rules, 2000 bar loudspeakers at night outside closed premises, while banquet halls and ballrooms follow the venue's own timing. Put the sangeet or the late reception indoors if it has to run past ten.
Bangalore Palace, Palace Grounds and Jayamahal Palace: which is which
Three names get mixed up in searches and on listings. They are three different places, booked three different ways.
| Place | What it is | For a wedding |
|---|---|---|
| Bangalore Palace | The Wadiyar family's 19th-century Tudor Revival palace, open to visitors with a ticket (Outlook Traveller, updated 7 Aug 2023) | We found no published wedding hire terms for the palace building, so this page prints none. Ask the palace office in writing. |
| Palace Grounds | Separate halls and lawns on and beside the Palace Grounds estate: Gayatri Vihar, Chamara Vajra, Royal Tripura Vasini, Princess Shrine, Anantya and the White Petals lawn | Each hall sets its own rent, plate and catering rules. Gayatri Vihar's Royal Banquet Hall seats 5,000 (WedMeGood, 11 Sep 2026). |
| Jayamahal Palace | A separate palace property on Jayamahal Road, run as a hotel on 19 acres (jayamahalpalace.com, 14 Oct 2026) | Takes weddings in five spaces, the largest its Front Palace Lawn at 1,200 seated, with 36 rooms on site (WedMeGood, 11 Sep 2026). |
If a listing just says 'Palace Grounds', ask for the gate number and the hall's own name before you visit. Each hall there has its own terms, and your contract is with the hall.
Historic buildings in central Bangalore
Of the historic buildings, Jayamahal Palace and Taj West End have the lawns for a large wedding. Jayamahal lists its Front Palace Lawn and its air-conditioned Convention Hall at 1,200 seated each, so the muhurtham can sit outdoors and the reception indoors without dropping guests. Taj West End opened as an inn in 1887; its Prince of Wales Lawns take 1,200 standing, and its indoor halls on the same estate give the lawns a rain plan.
The two charge differently. Taj West End's ₹4,500 plate is in-house only, and our records put the minimum at about 200 plates on the lawns. Jayamahal lists ₹1,300 a vegetarian plate and lets you bring your own caterer (WedMeGood, 11 September 2026).
Bowring Institute on St. Marks Road and Neemrana's Villa Pottipati in Malleswaram are the other two old buildings here. Bowring lists 80 to 1,200 guests and 26 rooms, with in-house catering. Villa Pottipati is the small one: its lawn seats 120, it has eight rooms, and its WedMeGood listing records no alcohol, in-house food and decor from the venue's own panel.
Heritage-style estates on the edge of the city
Prangana and The Tamarind Tree rent you the property and leave the food to your caterer, which suits a family with a cook they trust. Both are built around an older form: a stone mandap by a lotus pond at one, a 400-year-old tree at the other.
The Tamarind Tree on Kanakapura Road takes one wedding at a time, with 28 rooms on the estate and outside caterers only. It publishes no rate, so ask for the quote in writing for your date.
Prangana, off Hesaraghatta Road, is smaller. Its Kalyani stone mandap beside a lotus pond seats 180, there are five rooms, and our venue record puts hire from ₹3.9 lakh. Tharavadu Mane, on the Yelahanka side, describes itself as an outdoor venue with covered spaces for traditional weddings of up to 200 guests (its own site, checked 14 October 2026).
Shree Swargha Heritage in Thanisandra is the large one in this group: its WedMeGood listing gives 500 to 1,000 guests and ₹900 a vegetarian plate, with in-house decor (checked 5 September 2026).
Palace-style hotels
The Leela Palace Bengaluru describes itself as inspired by the Vijayanagara Empire, on 7.5 acres off HAL Old Airport Road (theleela.com, checked 14 October 2026). It has 357 rooms, and its Grand Ballroom and Maharaja Ballroom each take 1,000 guests. The published plate is ₹4,500 vegetarian and ₹5,000 non-vegetarian (WedMeGood, 11 September 2026).
ITC Windsor on Golf Course Road draws on English manor houses for its architecture. It has 239 rooms and suites, and its Regency 1 hall seats 225 (itchotels.com; WedMeGood, 26 September 2026). Neither hotel lets you bring a caterer, and both let an outside decorator build.
What a heritage venue asks of your decor
Old buildings and old trees come with rules a hotel ballroom does not have. At The Tamarind Tree nothing is drilled into stone, nothing is rigged off the tamarind, and load-in windows are agreed in advance. At Taj West End, ask in writing for the ground-protection rules on the lawns and around the rain tree, and for the open-flame terms if you plan a homam.
So the design starts on paper, where the venue can check the fixings before anything is built. Each film below follows one of our sets from a 2D plan to a 3D model to the decor as built, at The Tamarind Tree, at Prangana and at Chamara Vajra on Jayamahal Main Road.

Palace venues in Mysuru
If the family wants a palace and will travel for it, two Mysuru hotels publish their hire figures.
| Venue | Building | Hire, basis and source | Rooms | Catering and decor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel | Commissioned in 1921 by the Maharaja of Mysore to host the Viceroy | Front Lawns ₹3,88,500; Swimming Pool Lawn ₹1,98,900; Banquet Hall ₹1,95,000; each plus 18% GST (hotel rental card, 26 Sep 2026) | 54 | In-house catering and decor (WedMeGood, 26 Sep 2026) |
| Royal Orchid Metropole | Colonial-era heritage hotel, Jhansi Lakshmibai Road | ₹9,00,000 a day venue rental; ₹1,500 to ₹1,799 a vegetarian plate (WeddingWire, 9 Sep 2026) | 30 | In-house catering, decor and DJ only; no alcohol at events |
Ask Lalitha Mahal whether a rental covers one function or one day, and for a measured plan of the lawn you want. Our Mysore page compares the city's other venues.
What a palace or heritage wedding costs
At a hotel the plate is most of the venue bill. 300 guests at Taj West End's published ₹4,500 come to ₹13.5 lakh a function before taxes, and a second function doubles it. The same 300 at The Leela Palace's ₹5,000 non-vegetarian plate come to ₹15 lakh a function. This is arithmetic on the WedMeGood plates of 11 September 2026, not a quote.
At an estate you pay the hire, then your caterer. Prangana's hire starts from ₹3.9 lakh on our venue record, and the caterer you appoint quotes the food per plate on top.
Our fees sit outside both: decor from ₹5 lakh + GST and planning from ₹2 lakh a day for two events + GST. Rooms, photography and entertainment are separate lines.

Questions couples ask
Can we hire Bangalore Palace for a wedding?
We found no published wedding hire terms for the palace building, so we print no rate for it. The separate halls on the Palace Grounds estate, such as Gayatri Vihar and Royal Tripura Vasini, take weddings on their own terms, and Jayamahal Palace Hotel takes weddings on its lawns and halls.
Is Jayamahal Palace the same as Bangalore Palace?
No. Jayamahal Palace is a separate property on Jayamahal Road, run as a hotel on 19 acres with its own lawns, halls and 36 rooms. Bangalore Palace is the Wadiyar family's 19th-century palace on the Palace Grounds.
Which heritage wedding venue in Bangalore takes the most guests?
Among the venues on this page, Jayamahal Palace Hotel. Its Front Palace Lawn and its air-conditioned Convention Hall are each listed at 1,200 seated and 2,000 floating (WedMeGood, 11 September 2026). Taj West End's Prince of Wales Lawns take 1,200 standing.
Which palace and heritage venues let us bring our own caterer?
The Tamarind Tree and Prangana take outside caterers only. Jayamahal Palace and Shree Swargha Heritage allow their own kitchen or yours. Taj West End, The Leela Palace, ITC Windsor, Bowring Institute and Villa Pottipati cater in-house only.

How late can music play at a heritage venue in Bangalore?
Outdoors, until 10 pm: India's Noise Pollution Rules stop loudspeakers at night outside closed premises. Ballrooms and banquet halls follow the venue's own timing, so hold the late part of the evening indoors.
Are there palace wedding venues near Bangalore?
In Mysuru, Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel publishes a rental card, from ₹1,95,000 for its Banquet Hall to ₹3,88,500 for its Front Lawns, each plus 18% GST (checked 26 September 2026). Royal Orchid Metropole lists ₹9 lakh a day for venue rental on WeddingWire (checked 9 September 2026).
