The history is Travancore's. Syrian Christian planters from central Travancore set up the plantation in the early 1930s; Dr Simon John, an ophthalmic surgeon in Kochi, bought it in 1987 and opened it to guests ten years later. Cardamom is the main crop, with a small batch of Arabica coffee, and the estate is run by Windermere Retreats from Windermere House in Kochi.
