Aura is the wedding side of Area 83, the adventure and day-outing resort on Bannerghatta Main Road, and it was added to the property in 2022. The reason couples shortlist it is the water. A lake runs along one edge of the site, and the venue has built a deck out onto it that takes about fifty people. Nothing else in South Bangalore at this price gives you a ceremony platform surrounded by water, and it changes the photographs more than any amount of decor would.
Behind the deck the property works like a normal multi-space venue. The main lawn holds 500 seated, a second outdoor area called Jade holds 400, and a glasshouse holds 200 under a roof. That mix means a two-day wedding can move between three genuinely different settings without leaving the property, and the glasshouse gives you somewhere to put a midday mehendi that does not depend on the weather. Ninety-one rooms are listed, though the venue's own description says forty-five, so the room block is a number to pin down early.
The policies are open in the ways that matter for design. Outside decorators are permitted, outside DJs are permitted, and outside alcohol is allowed even though the venue does not sell it. Catering is the one unresolved item: the listing's structured field says outside caterers only while its description says both models are available, and the menu is described as vegetarian. Settle that before you plan a menu, because it decides your largest single cost line.

Designed, not just planned
Wedding planning & decor at Aura by Area 83: how we would design it
Water is the whole design brief here. A floating deck sits below the eye level of the shoreline guests, which is unusual and useful: build the mandap low and open, with no solid back wall, so the lake stays visible behind the couple from the bank. Anything tall or backed will read as a box on a pond. The second consequence is reflection. Warm uplight bounces off still water and doubles, so the lighting plan can be about half as dense as it would be on an inland lawn, and a cool-white wash will read cold and flat against the green of the bank. The third is wind: an open lake edge in the evening will lift unweighted fabric and take floral off any structure that is not ground-anchored, so drapery here needs bottom-weighting and the floral has to be mechanically fixed rather than wired. For the Glasshouse, the problem is the reverse. Glass roofs go hot and glary at midday and then read as a black ceiling after dark, so a daytime mehendi needs a diffusing layer under the glass and an evening function needs something hung inside the volume to give the room a ceiling. Access to the deck is the last practical point: get the load path and the weight limit in writing before anyone designs a structure to stand on it.
Which function goes where
| Haldi | Jade or the lawn edge in the morning. The lake keeps the air cooler here than at an inland South Bangalore lawn, which matters for a 10am function in April. |
|---|---|
| Mehendi | The Glasshouse. It is the only covered space of real size on the property and a four-hour seated mehendi under a glass roof beats one under a hired tent. |
| Sangeet | The main Lawn. Outside DJs are permitted, so the sound system is your choice; confirm the cut-off time, because the property sits in a low-density belt where noise carries across open water. |
| Wedding ceremony | The Floating Deck for the ritual itself if your immediate family is under fifty, with the lawn carrying the rest of the guests along the shoreline. For a larger seated muhurtham, run it on the Lawn and use the deck for the couple entry. |
| Reception | The Lawn for up to 500 seated, or the Glasshouse for 200 if you want the evening under a roof. |
Season and weather
November to February is the window where the lawn and the deck both work all day. March to May the lake edge stays more bearable than an inland lawn, but functions still need to start after 4pm. The monsoon is the real constraint: a lakeside site in June to September means soft ground as well as rain, and the Glasshouse at 200 seated is smaller than the lawn it would have to replace.
Arrivals, access and logistics
Bannerghatta Main Road past the national park is a straightforward drive from JP Nagar, Jayanagar and Electronic City, and a long one from North Bangalore or the airport. Build the airport transfer time into the arrival plan for outstation guests rather than assuming a city drive. On-site rooms cover part of the block; the rest sits back towards Bannerghatta Road. Confirm vendor load-in hours and whether trucks can reach the lake edge, because a deck build with no vehicle access is a hand-carry job.
An honest read
Is Aura by Area 83 the right venue for your wedding?
| Right for you if | Couples in South Bangalore who want water in their photographs and a property that can carry three functions across different settings, with full freedom on decor, sound and alcohol. |
|---|---|
| Look elsewhere if | Families who want a formal, air-conditioned, hotel-style wedding, or anyone whose menu depends on a non-vegetarian kitchen — the listing describes the food as vegetarian. |
| Planner tip | Get the room count settled in the contract. The listing's structured field says 91 rooms and its own description says 45, and the difference decides whether your outstation guests sleep on site or in Bannerghatta Road hotels twenty-five minutes away. Ask for the room block in writing with the rate, the release date and the check-in time, because a wedding with a morning muhurtham needs rooms available the previous evening, not at noon on the day. |

Asked and answered
Aura by Area 83 wedding questions
What does a wedding at Aura by Area 83 cost?
The WedMeGood listing carries a rental of ₹8,15,000 per function, taxes extra, checked on 11 September 2026, with rooms at ₹8,000 each. No plate rate is published. Because the catering model is ambiguous on the listing, your food cost has to come from a written venue quote or from the caterer you appoint, and that is the number that moves your total most.
How many guests does Aura by Area 83 hold?
The listing carries a 20 to 1,000 guest range across five spaces. The main Lawn is listed at 500 seated and 1,000 floating, Jade at 400 seated, the Glasshouse at 200 seated, the Floating Deck at 50 and the Skydeck at 20. For a seated dinner with a stage and a dance floor, plan against the seated figures.
What is the floating deck at Aura by Area 83?
It is a platform built out onto the lake on the property, listed at 50 seated. Couples use it for the ceremony itself or for the couple entry, with the rest of the guests seated along the bank. It is the single feature that distinguishes this venue from other South Bangalore lawns, and it is worth seeing in person before you plan around it.
Can you bring your own decorator to Aura by Area 83?
Yes. The listing records that outside decorators are permitted, so an original mandap and stage can be designed and built for your wedding. Confirm the load-in window, whether vehicles can reach the lake edge, and the weight limit on the floating deck in writing, because those three answers decide what can physically be built where.
Is the food at Aura by Area 83 vegetarian only?
The listing describes the venue as offering vegetarian dishes. It does not say non-vegetarian catering is barred, but it does not confirm it either. If your menu needs a non-vegetarian kitchen, raise it in the first conversation rather than assuming, and get the answer in the proposal alongside the catering model.
Can you bring your own caterer to Aura by Area 83?
The listing contradicts itself. Its structured catering field says outside catering only; its written description says both in-house and outside catering are allowed. Treat neither as settled. Ask the venue which model applies to your date and whether a kitchen-access or royalty charge applies per plate or per event.
Is alcohol allowed at Aura by Area 83?
The listing records that in-house alcohol is not available and outside alcohol is permitted. In practice that means you arrange the liquor and the licence position, and the venue provides the setting and service. Confirm any corkage or service charge, who holds the permit, and the bar close time in writing before you budget a cocktail evening.
Does Aura by Area 83 have rooms for wedding guests?
Rooms are listed at ₹8,000 each, but the room count is inconsistent on the listing: the structured field says 91 rooms and the description says 45. That gap is large enough to change your accommodation plan entirely, so get the exact number of rooms available on your date, with the block rate and the release date, in writing.
What is the rain backup at Aura by Area 83?
The Glasshouse, at 200 seated, is the only covered space of size. If your main function is on the 500-seated Lawn, the built fallback holds well under half your guests, so a monsoon-season wedding here needs a temporary structure planned and priced in advance rather than called on the day. Ask who supplies that structure and what it costs.
Where is Aura by Area 83 and how do guests reach it?
It is at Bilwaradahalli off Bannerghatta Main Road, past Bannerghatta National Park, in South Bangalore. That is a comfortable drive from JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Kanakapura Road and Electronic City, and a long one from the airport or North Bangalore. Send guests the pin location rather than the venue name, because the approach road is not obvious.
Is Aura by Area 83 the same as Area 83?
Yes. Area 83 is the adventure and day-outing resort; Aura is its wedding and events side, added in 2022, and the WedMeGood listing records the former name as Area 83. If you are searching for reviews or photographs, both names return the same property, and the resort's own site is area83.in.
How well reviewed is Aura by Area 83?
It carries 4.8 from 69 reviews on WedMeGood, with the most recent posted in August 2026 and 65 of the 69 at five stars, checked 11 September 2026. Reviewers mention the lake view and the event coordination most often. Three one-star reviews sit in the same set, which is worth reading before you visit.
What should you settle before signing at Aura by Area 83?
Five things, in writing: which catering model applies and whether non-vegetarian is available; the exact room count and block rate for your date; what one rental function covers in hours and spaces; the weight limit and access route for the floating deck; and the monsoon fallback, including who supplies and pays for any temporary structure.
