Where the money actually goes
A mandap bill is four lines, and they mirror the shape of any serious decor budget: roughly 40% flowers, 20% fabrication, 20% lighting and 20% labour and transport. The line couples always underestimate is labour — and it is the one we would never cut, because labour is what gives you the finishing. A mandap photographed at midnight after a rushed install and the same design finished three hours early with a tested light rig are two different products at the same list price.
The structure itself, meaning the metal, the joinery and the platform, is usually the smallest surprise on the bill. What moves a mandap from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh is flower coverage density (a fully clad structure simply carries thousands more stems), the flower grade, and the hours of skilled hands it takes to finish to close-up standard. The mandap is the one element every guest photographs from two feet away.
“Is this quote normal, or am I being overcharged?”
The most common mandap question we hear is some version of this. The honest answer: quotes for the “same” mandap legitimately differ 2–3x, and the difference is rarely dishonesty. It is grade. One team is pricing reused fabric, mixed-grade florals and a crew that arrives when it arrives. The other is pricing fresh materials for your event, a named flower spec, and a build that is finished and tested before guests walk in. The question nobody asks until it is too late: is it safe?
Couples on wedding forums genuinely ask whether a mandap can come down mid-ceremony — because occasionally, somewhere, one does. A mandap is a temporary structure that carries fabric loads, floral weight and lighting, sometimes outdoors in wind. It should be engineered like one. Every Panigrahana mandap exists as drawings before it exists as metal: sketches, 2D CAD layouts and 3D renders from an architect-founded studio. On site that becomes cross-bracing on anything tall, ballast and tie-downs outdoors, and an install schedule that finishes hours early, so the build is tested rather than still being bolted when the first guest sits down. Mandap costs by region

Goa — beach mandaps carry engineering costs inland quotes never show: anchoring, wind-rated structures, and flower species that survive salt air and afternoon heat (birds of paradise, anthuriums and heliconias hold; roses trucked in for an afternoon ceremony do not). What changes the number most
Three levers, in order. First, coverage: a structure outlined in florals versus a structure clad in them can double the flower line on its own. Second, the calendar: peak dates carry roughly 15% higher flower costs, which moves the total by about 5% — real, but smaller than couples fear. Third, the venue itself: a property with in-house furniture and rigging points needs less brought in, which quietly moves every decor line including the mandap.
