Wedding venues in Kochi: the five-star hotels by area, with rooms and published rates
Kochi's five-star wedding hotels sit in five areas: Bolgatty Island, the harbour at Marine Drive and Willingdon Island, the backwater edge at Kundannoor and Maradu, Edappally, and the airport. Four have more than 220 rooms: Kochi Marriott (273), Crowne Plaza (269), Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty (264) and Le Méridien (223). Entry plates run ₹1,050 to ₹4,000, taxes extra.
The plates are each hotel's starting figure on WedMeGood, checked in September 2026; most of these hotels sell on a food-and-beverage minimum, so treat them as the floor. The one venue with an official published hire tariff is KTDC's Bolgatty Palace: ₹50,000 to ₹5.5 lakh per venue for six hours, plus 18% GST. Panigrahana is a wedding planning and design studio, not any of these hotels. The hotel contracts with you for rooms, halls and food; we plan, design and run the wedding.

Pick the area first
Kochi is spread across islands and a long backwater edge, and the area you choose decides the drive from the airport, the view from the lawn and whether guests can walk to Fort Kochi between functions. Settle it before you compare menus.
- Bolgatty Island: Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty with the Lulu convention centre beside it, and KTDC's Bolgatty Palace around a Dutch palace of 1744. The island faces Marine Drive across the water. This is where the city's largest wedding rooms are.
- The harbour: Vivanta Ernakulam on Marine Drive, Taj Malabar and Casino Hotel on Willingdon Island, and Brunton Boatyard and The Malabar House in Fort Kochi. Heritage buildings, harbour views, smaller rooms. CGH Earth gives 1.5 hours from the airport to Casino Hotel and Brunton Boatyard.
- The backwater edge south-east of the city: Le Méridien at Maradu, Crowne Plaza at Kundannoor, The Artiste in the Forum Mall complex, and Radisson Blu at Elamkulam. Big halls, big room blocks, lawns on the water. Crowne Plaza puts itself 45 minutes from the airport.
- Edappally: Kochi Marriott, attached to Lulu International Shopping Mall on NH 47, with the Edappally metro station close by.
- The airport at Nedumbassery: Taj Cochin International Airport, about 300 metres from the terminals on its listing, with Courtyard by Marriott and Port Muziris opposite the airport on VIP Road.
If most guests are flying in for one night, the airport hotels save them the city traffic. If the wedding runs three days, the harbour hotels give guests something to do between functions.

Bolgatty Island: two different venues, one island
The two are easy to confuse. Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty is a 264-room hotel with the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre beside it. Bolgatty Palace and Island Resort is KTDC's heritage hotel around the palace Dutch traders built in 1744, with lawns, a marina and a nine-hole golf course laid out in 1925. They share an island and nothing else.
Bolgatty Palace is also the only Kochi venue that publishes its hire rates. The KTDC tariff for April 2026 to March 2027 charges per venue for six hours, plus 18% GST, with food charged separately.

A two-function wedding on the Palace Lawn and in the Event Centre therefore starts at ₹5.25 lakh plus GST in hire alone, before food, rooms, decor and production.

For 1,000 guests and more
At a thousand guests you are choosing a convention hall or a very large lawn, not a ballroom. On the published figures, five Kochi venues can take a thousand or more:
- Bolgatty Palace: the Event Centre with Golf Avenue, 3,000 to 4,000 theatre style on KTDC's tariff.
- Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty: the convention centre halls next door, quoted by listings at about 2,000 and 2,500 to 3,000.
- Crowne Plaza Kochi: the Backwater Pavilion, a 14,000 sq ft German hangar for up to 2,000, on the hotel's own register entry.
- Kochi Marriott: Solitaire, 1,000 at banquet and 1,600 theatre on Marriott's chart.
- Le Méridien Kochi: Oman Hall, 1,225 theatre, and MFAR I, 800 at a reception.
At this size, parking, the kitchen's output per hour and how fast a thousand people can be served decide the evening more than the room does. Ask each hotel how many covers its kitchen serves at once and how many cars it can park, and get both answers in writing.
Under 150 guests
For a small wedding, Kochi's heritage hotels suit better than the convention hotels. Brunton Boatyard has 22 rooms, a waterfront garden and pier for 120 and a courtyard under a rain tree for 150, on CGH Earth's own page. The Malabar House in Fort Kochi has 17 rooms and a courtyard with a stage where music and dance are performed at dinner; it publishes no event capacity. The Artiste Kochi has 32 rooms and a poolside for 150. Port Muziris, opposite the airport, has 27 rooms and one event room for 80 at banquet.

What the published numbers add up to
Use the entry plates to see the spread, not to budget the wedding. For a 300-guest vegetarian reception, food alone at the starting plate, before taxes, works out as follows.

Kochi, or a resort two hours away?
Kochi wins on rooms, big halls and the airport. The lake resorts at Kumarakom win on setting, and none of the ones that publish a count has more than 72 rooms. One way to have both: the ceremony and the family nights at a lake resort, the big reception in a Kochi convention hall. If you do, plan the transfers as carefully as the functions.

For 300 guests that is ₹3.15 lakh to ₹12 lakh for food alone at the starting plate. Rooms, decor, production and the bar are separate lines, and hotels sell on a food-and-beverage minimum rather than the plate.
Which Kochi venue can hold 1,000 guests or more?
Bolgatty Palace's Event Centre with Golf Avenue takes 3,000 to 4,000 theatre style (KTDC tariff). The convention centre beside Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty has halls quoted at about 2,000 and 2,500 to 3,000.
