It used to trade as Vivanta by Taj Madikeri, and older reviews still use that name. For a wedding it is a small, contained property: one ballroom, one deck, and a guest list WedMeGood puts at 80 to 250.
Taj's events factsheet publishes both spaces. Soiree, the ballroom, is 316 m² with a 4.9-metre ceiling and soundproof partitions; it seats 150 theatre-style or 90 at round tables and holds 200 standing. The Poolside Deck, 325 m² over the canopy, holds 250 standing. Taj's chart gives 90 at round tables, so a seated dinner for more than that needs its layout agreed in writing.
The policies are the unusual part. WedMeGood records outside caterers and outside alcohol as permitted here, but the DJ has to be the resort's own. On decor the listing contradicts itself: its policy panel permits outside decorators while its amenities say empanelled decor vendors only, so ask Taj in writing before you brief a design team. How we would design a wedding at Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa
Taj publishes two spaces, so the design problem here is sequence, not scale. The deck sits over the rainforest canopy at 1,200 metres: build low and weighted, keep fabric spans short for the breeze, and light for mist, which swallows uplighting and flatters warm, low festoon runs. Soiree has a 4.9-metre ceiling, which limits tall suspended pieces, and it divides into A1 (1,122 sq ft) and A2 (2,277 sq ft), so a mehendi can run in one half while the other is set for the evening. Outside decorators are permitted on the listing: agree load-in windows, rigging points and available power with the resort in writing before the layout is fixed.

Season and weather
October to February is the Coorg window. November to January are dry and cool and book first; February is quieter and easier on availability. Monsoon runs June to September, and with Soiree as the only covered space, a monsoon date works only as a small, indoor-anchored wedding.
Arrivals, access and logistics
Coorg is a road destination: guests drive from Bengaluru, or fly to Mangaluru or Kannur and drive the last stretch on ghat roads. Taj publishes no drive times on the pages we checked, so we confirm them with the resort for the arrival plan. Schedule coaches to arrive in daylight, and above about 120 guests block overflow rooms in Madikeri with a shuttle.
