About Taj West End Bengaluru
Taj West End is the anomaly among Bengaluru's hotels: twenty acres of garden in the middle of the city, on Race Course Road, next to the golf club and across from the turf club. It opened as a ten-room inn in 1887, and the 1887 and 1905 blocks are still standing, so the colonial bungalow architecture in your photographs is the real thing rather than a reproduction of it. The oldest rain tree in the city is here, dated by Taj at 180 years, and its canopy is the single most photographed object on the property. None of that can be manufactured, which is why the venue sits at the top of most Bangalore garden-wedding shortlists and stays there.
The working shape of the place is a lawn-and-ballroom pair with a set of small, characterful rooms around it. The Prince of Wales Lawns, renamed in honour of King Charles III, who stayed here in the early nineties when he held the title, is the main ceremony and reception ground. The pillarless Grand Ballroom, with its own pre-function area and an outdoor space attached, is both the formal indoor option and the rain plan, which matters more here than at a standalone venue because it is on the same estate rather than in a tent. Around them sit Tamarind, Gulmohar, West End Court, Plumeria and Cycad indoors, and the multi-decked Tulip Poolside, the Blue Ginger Lawn beside the Butterfly Gardens, and the Raintree lawn outside.
Two things constrain it, and both are worth knowing before you fall in love with the photographs. There are 117 rooms, fewer than half what The Leela Palace or Taj Bangalore can block, so a 500-guest fly-in wedding will be spread across hotels and shuttled. The estate also backs onto a residential neighbourhood, which makes the 10 pm outdoor amplified-sound limit hard rather than negotiable, a fact one reviewer on the hotel's own WedMeGood listing describes plainly. Plan the lawn for golden hour and the late programme indoors, and the constraint stops being a problem. Ignore it and it ends your sangeet at ten.

Designed, not just planned
How we would design a wedding at Taj West End Bengaluru
This venue rewards restraint more than any other five-star in Bengaluru, because the rain trees and the 1887 verandahs are already doing the work. Start with the canopy, which is a ceiling in itself. You do not need to build one, and the mistake couples make is flying fabric under branches that are already better than fabric. Light the trees instead: warm uplighters at the trunks, a scatter of festoon or fairy strings through the lower branches, and nothing above the first fork, which is roughly where the photographers will be framing. The canopy also controls where the mandap goes. A tree with a 180-year spread has roots and a drip line, so ground protection and stake-free structures have to be agreed with the hotel before anything is drawn; build off a ballasted frame rather than into the turf. Then the light. Dappled sun through the canopy at around 5:30 pm from November to February is the frame the whole day should be planned around, and a ceremony at that hour needs almost no lighting design at all, while a reception two hours later needs all of it. The Grand Ballroom is a different design problem entirely: pillarless, formal, Taj interiors, chandeliers, and a heavily patterned carpet. It takes ceiling treatments and suspended florals well because it is well-proportioned, but a scheme carried straight in from the lawn will look thin against the existing detail, so either commit to a full build there or lean into the room's own formality. And because the ballroom is the weather plan, pre-rig its ceiling elements at the start of the week so a move indoors takes about two hours rather than a day.

Season and weather
October to February is the window for the lawns and gardens, and November to January is the peak for both demand and pricing. Auspicious weekends in that band are typically taken 18 months ahead, and the Prince of Wales Lawns is the first space to go. March to May is warm but genuinely workable for evening functions under the rain trees. June to September needs the Grand Ballroom held as a rain plan and carries the lowest venue pricing of the year. Here the calendar, rather than the weather, is usually the constraint.
Arrivals, access and logistics
The central address is the point. Most of Bengaluru is within about fifteen minutes, the golf club is next door and the turf club across the road, so a city guest list barely travels. Kempegowda International Airport is the trade, about an hour by the WedMeGood listing's own description and roughly 35 km, so an overseas contingent does one long drive on arrival. The room block is the real planning constraint: 117 rooms, quoted at about ₹22,500 on the WedMeGood listing and at ₹12,000–₹25,000 a night with a 15–20% block discount in Panigrahana's records. Book the block about six months out to hold the categories you want, and plan overflow at nearby Taj properties with a shuttle. Vendor vehicles use the service entrance, with large trucks unloading at the gate and ferrying in on smaller vehicles, because a twenty-acre garden estate is not a loading bay.

What time does music have to stop at Taj West End?
10 pm outdoors. Amplified sound on the lawns stops then under Bengaluru's noise rules, and the Grand Ballroom runs later under the hotel's rules (Panigrahana records). The estate backs onto homes, and a reviewer on the hotel's WedMeGood listing says some music requests could not be met. Start the lawn programme by 6 pm and move the dancing indoors.
Who handles catering and alcohol at Taj West End?
The hotel does both. Catering is in-house only, the bar is the hotel's, and outside alcohol is not permitted (WedMeGood listing, checked 11 September 2026). Alcohol is priced separately from the plate. The kitchens behind Machan, Loya, Blue Ginger and the Blue Bar give a menu tasting real range, from North Indian to Vietnamese.
How far in advance should we book Taj West End?
Twelve to eighteen months for a November to February date. In Panigrahana's records, auspicious weekends in that window go about 18 months out, and the Prince of Wales Lawns is the first space taken. Off-season dates often work with six to nine months' notice. The date is held only once the contract is signed and the deposit paid.
Can we have a mandap and homam on the lawn at Taj West End?
Yes. An open-frame mandap of about 12 x 12 ft, raised about 18 inches, fits under the rain-tree canopy, built on a ballasted frame instead of stakes in the turf. Homam and havan run under contained fire arrangements agreed with the events team in advance. Early muhurthams from about 6.30 am work because the family sleeps a short walk away.
Is there parking at Taj West End for wedding guests?
Yes. The estate has on-site parking with valet, but the hotel confirms a car count for each event instead of publishing one (Panigrahana records). If you expect a lot of cars, get the number in writing and run a coach from one pick-up point. Decor and production trucks unload at the service gate and ferry in on smaller vehicles.
