It is not The Leela Kovalam. That is the clifftop resort at Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram; this one is on the lake at Thevally in Kollam, with nalukettu-style buildings, red tiled roofs and verandahs, and a heritage block, the Raviz Palace, that dates from 1911. The hotel's capacity chart also gives a sadhya count for its rooms, which is the number a Kerala wedding lunch is planned on: 265 on banana leaf in the pre-function area, 118 in the Empire.

The mandap goes low on the Helipad or poolside lawn in the dry months, the sadhya is served under cover, and the convention centre is held as the rain plan and for any reception above 500. How we would design a wedding at The Leela Ashtamudi, a Raviz Hotel
The resort's own look is white walls, red tiled roofs and long verandahs, so the decor should sit inside that palette: brass, jasmine, marigold, banana leaf and lamp light, nothing that fights the roofline. The convention centre is a plain rectangle with a 21 ft ceiling. It takes suspended florals and a full stage wall well. On the lawns the lake is the backdrop, which means the mandap stays low, faces the water and the water's edge is lit after dark for safety as much as for the photographs.
