Two spaces, two opposite briefs. The Grand Ballroom is a modern luxury-hotel room: a crystal-detailed ceiling that takes colour beautifully, a neutral carpet and real height. The ceiling is the asset — the gallery shows it washed pink and it holds a saturated state cleanly, which means a colour-led scheme here costs less than it would in a room with a fixed warm cove. Get the rigging capacity and the point loads early, because a 900-seat room wants a ceiling intervention over the guest zone rather than only a stage build, and a hotel's rated points decide whether that is hung or trussed. The private foyer should be designed as part of the scheme rather than left as a corridor; at this guest count the foyer is where the first ten minutes of the wedding happen. Tiamo is the opposite problem: an elevated, landscaped deck with water, planting and a view. Build almost nothing there. A light open mandap over the water, ground-level lighting in the planting, and the city and the lake left visible — anything that blocks the view removes the reason the space is worth the money.
