Wedding Search Trends, South India

Over sixteen months, 48.2% of the wedding search demand that reached panigrahana.com named one specific venue — 206,865 impressions across 302 venues we publish pages about. Only 6.6% asked about cost, and only 2.2% was phrased as a question. Couples do not arrive asking what a wedding costs. They arrive asking about a place.

This measures demand reaching one website, not all of Google. Every figure below comes from the Google Search Console property https://panigrahana.com/ — 935,488 impressions and 13,228 clicks across 16,989 distinct queries between 2025-05-17 and 2026-09-16. It is biased towards the venues and cities we publish pages about, and Google withholds rare queries, so the tail is under-counted.

The 25 most-searched venues

A query is attributed to a venue when every distinctive word of that venue's name appears in it, longest name first, so "JW Marriott Golfshire" cannot be swallowed by "JW Marriott". The last column counts the impressions whose wording also asked about cost, price, rate or budget — the couples who have already chosen the place and now want the number.

Almost every riser is a venue name: this is what a South Indian wedding search market in motion actually looks like, and it moves venue by venue rather than theme by theme.

What the queries are actually asking

Shares of the 429,605 impressions Search Console attributes to a named query over sixteen months. (That is less than the property total of 935,488, because Google withholds rare queries; we use the smaller, honest denominator.) The buckets overlap — a query can name a venue and ask its price.

Cost or price intent28,1596.6%
Question form9,6102.2%
Named a venue206,86548.2%
From-abroad wording1320.0%

The reading that surprised us: explicit from-abroad wording ("NRI", "from the UK", "from abroad") accounts for 0.0% of impressions, while 31.1% of impressions come from outside India. Couples abroad do not describe themselves as abroad in the search box. They search like anyone else and are identifiable only by country.

The monthly curve — and why it is not a seasonality curve yet

Here is the honest version of a chart most publishers would present as seasonal demand. Impressions on this property rose from 18,297 in July 2025 to 206,251 in August 2026. Almost none of that is season: it is us publishing more pages. A clean seasonal read needs two comparable years on a stable page count, which this property will not have until Q3 2027. Until then, treat the column as reach, not as demand.

Where the demand sits

31.1% of impressions come from outside India, led by the United States at 16.2%. For a studio planning South Indian weddings, roughly one search in three is someone abroad looking at a venue they will book from another time zone.

Methodology

Pulled from the Google Search Console API for the property https://panigrahana.com/ by scripts/pull-search-trends.py, always with dataState: final. Three fixed windows so the tables are reproducible: sixteen months (2025-05-17 to 2026-09-16) for the venue ranking, intent shares and country split; the quarter to date (2026-07-01 to 2026-09-16, 78 days) and the matched 78 days before it (2026-04-14 to 2026-06-30) for the rising list. Accessed 2026-09-19.

What this is not: national search volume. It is demand that reached one website, shaped by which venues and cities that website publishes pages about. Impressions are not people, and one person comparing four venues generates four rows. Google truncates rare queries, so the long tail is under-counted and every share uses the 429,605 impressions attributable to a named query rather than the property total of 935,488. 223 first-person queries carrying 2,804 impressions ("i want a venue that…") were excluded as AI-assistant probes rather than people typing, and are reported here instead of being folded into a share.

Venue attribution: every distinctive token of a venue name must appear in the query, longest name first. The venue list comes from the same roster as the Venue Price Index — 927 venues — so the two reports count the same universe.

Questions about this dataset

What do South Indian couples actually search for?

A venue, by name. Over sixteen months, 48.2% of the impressions Search Console attributes to a named query on panigrahana.com named one specific wedding venue — 206,865 impressions across 302 venues. Cost and price wording accounts for 6.6%, and only 2.2% of demand is phrased as a question.

Which wedding venue is searched for most?

On this property, Utsavaa, with 26,321 impressions over sixteen months, ahead of The Groves by Anjanadri and Nandi Highland. The ranking measures demand among the venues panigrahana.com publishes pages about; a venue with no page here cannot appear in it, however well known it is.

Is this Google search volume for South Indian weddings?

No, and the distinction matters. This is one website's Search Console data: queries for which panigrahana.com appeared in results, over 2025-05-17 and 2026-09-16 impressions. It is biased towards what we publish, and Google withholds rare queries. It is a good read on relative movement and a poor one on absolute market size.

How much wedding search demand comes from outside India?

31.1% of impressions over sixteen months, led by the United States at 16.2%, the United Kingdom at 2.4% and Australia and Canada behind them. Notably, almost none of those searches use NRI or from-abroad wording — couples abroad search exactly like couples at home.
